Volume 5

Izark struggled with the hair-liked creatures and realised he is about to be swallowed by the creatures. He told the others to protect Noriko before disappearing from their sight. Noriko was worried and tried to communicate with Izark through telepathy. Izark replied that he was fine. The hair-liked creatures divided themselves into two parts and one moved towards Noriko and the others.

Agol appeared with a torch and threw it towards the hair-liked creatures and the creatures seem to be afraid of the fire. Banadam tried to run into the houses to get more torches but was blocked by the creatures. Noriko ran forward to help and the creatures tried to attack her. Banadam saved her but wounded his arm in the process. Izark tells Noriko to escape through telepathy. They decided to split into two groups; one group will protect Noriko and the other will try to get fire.

Noriko felt guilty and wished that she had the power to help. The others realised that there is a fog hindering their vision. Meanwhile, Izark was struggling inside the creatures. A monster made Izark thought about his past. He remembered how his mother tried to kill him and how he hurt her in self-defense. His father told him that they had agreed to take care of him (the son of devil) for wealth.

The fog was getting thicker. Noriko accidentally fell down a slope and got separated with the others. Izark continued to be trapped in his thoughts. He remembered people exclaiming, "Monster!" when they saw his strength. Then, he thought of Noriko, remembering her smiles and the times they were together. He 'woke up' and destroyed the creatures that trapped him.

Noriko heard a voice calling her. It was the spirit that she saw that night. The spirit told her about the creatures in the forest. It started with a small argument between the villagers. But, somehow the arguement spread and caused the monster to be awakened. The monster caused more anger and hatred between the villagers and they ended up killing one another. These sad souls filled with hatred then became the hair-liked creatures and are controlled by the monster. The spirit told her that in order to save these souls and themselves, they have to find a way out. Noriko offered to help and then the monster appeared again.

Izark fell onto the ground after escaping. Agol and the others found him and asked if he was injured. Izark realised he had used too much of his power and felt something inside his body was going to transform. He rested for a while and recovered, and realised that Noriko was missing. Meanwhile, Noriko was trapped in her thoughts. She remembered everyone trying to protect her and she wished she had the strength to help. Suddenly, the spirit appeared and told her that it can give her strength. The same spirit appeared behind her and seems to be reaching for her. Noriko thought she should do something with her own ability, so she turned and ran toward the spirit behind her.

Noriko reached the spirit and turned back. She saw the hair-liked creatures and realised that what happened just now was a hallucination caused by the monster. She kept running till she reached a big tree with purplish leaves and white trunk. Noriko touched the branch, and the branch broke and fell. The spirit told her it was the will of the tree that made the branch broke off and introduced himself as Irkutsure, the spirit of the tree. Meanwhile, Izark contacted Noriko through telepathy and told the others that she is coming back with the assist of a tree spirit. Noriko also told them to dig a hole in an area that would strengthen the power of the spirit.

Noriko, carrying the fallen branch, panted as she ran through the forest. Irkutsure was worried. However, Noriko told him not to worry as she could sense Izark coming to fetch her. Izark appeared and Noriko discovered that Izark could not see Irkutsure. Irkutsure explained that this was because his power is quite weak now. Carrying Noriko, Izark ran through the forest quickly with Irkutsure guiding the way through Noriko (only Noriko could see and hear Irkutsure). Irkutsure was amazed by Izark's speed. At this moment, the hair-liked creatures surrounded Agol and the others. They tried defending using fire but suddenly the rain came and distinguishes all the fire.

Izark and Noriko arrived at the scene. Noriko rushed toward the hole while Izark fought with the hair-liked creatures. Noriko inserted the branch into the hole and in an instant Irkutsure appeared and dispersed the hair-liked creatures using his power. The souls of the villagers awaken and transformed back into human forms. This scene touched Noriko.

Izark, carrying Noriko, and the others continued to walked out of the forest. Noriko was quite worried when she heard that Izark had nearly fainted in the forest. Izark reassured her that it was nothing but he himself knew that he had overused his power and got to be careful not to overuse it again. Somehow, Izark felt that the danger was not over yet. As all of them walked through a bridge (which is the exit of the forest), they relaxed. However, a gigantic bird appeared and grabbed Izark and Noriko away. The others wondered why the gentle animal would attack humans all of a sudden without a reason and realised that it must be the doings of the monster of the forest.

The bird (possessed by the monster) blamed Izark and Noriko for causing its injuries and thew them against the slope of the cliff from great height. Izark once again used his power to ensure he and Noriko landed safely. Izark realised that his fangs and pointed nails had appeared and decided to end the battle soon. He attacked the bird and the bird felled. Noriko noticed that Izark was behaving strangely and asked if he is feeling fine. Izark flinched from her touch and told her to remain where she was, and headed towards the bird to check its injuries. Noriko saw his changes (his fangs and greenish-blue eyes) and wondered about them.

The monster got out of the bird and possessed a huge rock. The rock fell quickly down the cliff, intending to crush Noriko, whom was below. Izark rushed back, stopped the fallen rock, threw it aside and killed the monster. However, Noriko was still injured by the debris caused by the falling rock. Izark sensed that the monster was gone for good and felt his body recovering. Suddenly, a horn started growing out of Izark's forehead. Izark growled in 'pain' and covered his face. Noriko was worried and tried to crawl towards Izark (she was injured).
"Don't look at me!", Izark shouted to Noriko.

Noriko watched Izark as his body started to transform rapidly. Scales appeared on his skin, his skin becomes a colour of blackish green, his eyes colour turn watery blue, his feet and hands become claws, a horn appeared on his forehead and lots of blades appeared on his body. Izark looked away from Noriko, not wanting her to see his transformed looks. Noriko thought he was going to leave her and struggled to crawl towards him. She cried and told him not to leave.

"I don't want this again. Please don't leave me."
"I can't bear the sadness of separating with you again.", Noriko thought.
"Stay with me. Izark, I like you... I like you no matter how you look, no matter who you are, I just like you!", Noriko declared her love to Izark with determination and kissed him.

Noriko lost her conscious, feeling the pain caused by her injuries. When she woke up, she was back with the others and Izark had already transformed back to his human form.

There's a short story about how Garya and Izark met when Izark was 17.
I may consider writing the summary if I am free.
