In the main CBR Lecture Hall where such famous creators as Steven Grant, Warren Ellis, and Larry Young had spoken, a cloaked wizard and a monstrous creature squared off for a fight to the death. The crowd was in shock; at least those that remained. Most had fled for safety, but some still stood in sheer awe of the fighters.

"DIE!" cried DeMonStar as he lashed out at the magician!
"BLEED!" cried Z-Mage as his energies pierced the flesh of the red beast!

"...hurt you!..." whined a small animal scampering towards them. It was a talking dog.

Z-Mage and DeMonStar had seen a lot of strange sights in their day but this talking dog threw them for a loop. They both stopped fighting and stared as it dashed towards them.

Then, a strange cloud of smoke enveloped the puppy as he began to breathe flames! Its fur turned to green scales! It sprouted wings! And it grew and it grew and it grew as it became a splendid jade dragon!!!

Papergirl awoke with a throbbing pain in her head. She could barely open her eyes. It took her awhile to determine whether or not her eyes were actually open, because she couldn't see a thing. The atmosphere was pitch black. No light emanated from any source. Papergirl tried to stand up. She failed. Her arms and legs were chained to the floor. She lay face up on a cold damp surface, scared and alone.
