Hoya carnosa

Type: Leaves approx 7-11cm long, tapering at the end. Often there
are white spots on the leaves - these are not harmful to the plant, are
made of sucrose and scrape off if you scratch them with a fingernail.
Flowers furry white-pink, heavy smell of caramel. Definitely a
dripper of nectar too. This plant will only flower when it's mature.
This rather large beauty I've had for over six years now. I got four
leaves from my mother's plants, stuck them in some soil and left them in
the greenhouse for half a year until one sprouted! This one's been
going ever since. This was the first year it flowered, it flowered
about four times and was just amazing... Hoya
compacta
Type: Leaves curled up on themselves, as the carnosa
above occasionally with white spots. Also known as
"Hindu Rope". This plant likes lots of moisture.
Also the "ropes" of leaves tend to get very heavy, although apparently you
can train them, I will probably hang this plant when it gets bigger.
The creases are the perfect breeding ground for mealies, so be careful!
Apparently the flowers are much pinker than the carnosa, but I will have
to wait for this one to flower to report back!
