This is a straight-forward combat spell created by those who got tired of fighting the bugs. It's an area effect spell that does Physical damage. (Restricted Target: Insect Spirits)

This spell only affects humans and metahumans (Restricted Target: Metahumanity). It bestows large wings of a metallic material to spring from the back of the target, allowing flight. These wings are proportional to the size of the target (with a span of about 1.5 times the target's height). The wings allow flight with a Quickness equal to the Force of the spell, with a x5 running multiplier. Every 2 additional successes beyond the threshold increases the effective Quickness of the spell by 1. The wings have a limit of lifting equal to the user's Strength + one-half the spells Force. The user can still only carry things in his arms that he could normally carry. Hang Gliding may be used for maneuvers at a +1 Target Number, Athletics at a +2, or the special skill Flight without penalty. Maneuvers are performed as though the wings had a Handling equal to 8 minus the target's Quickness.
The threshold of the spell is equal to half the target's Body. The target number is equal to half the target's Body, plus one-half the difference between that number and the target number given by the Object Resistance Table for the type of material covering the target's torso (i.e., a human (Body 6) wearing an armored jacket (Manufactured High-Tech Material, Target Number 8) would yield a target number of 6. 6/2 = 3. (8-3)/2 = 3. 3+3 = 6. The Threshold would be 3).
The wings themselves provide 4/4 armor. This can be layered as additional armor, though doing so restricts the arms, providing a +4 modifier to any action using the arms. The wings will still provide layered protection from behind without a penalty. This armor may also be applied to anything carried in the arms, up to the size of the target. If the wings take a Serious or worse wound (by called shot) they may not be used for flight, though they still provide protection. If the target takes a Serious or worse wound (and is still conscious), the target must make a Willpower test, Target Number 4, modified by wounds, to take flight, or to stay in the air.
>>>>>[I'll tell you, this is a really neat idea. But I'm wondering where they came up with this idea? I got my hands on the formula. When I tried to reverse engineer the spell from that, I came up totally empty. Have no doubt, the spell works. It's just the how that completely confounds me.]<<<<<
>>>>>[Just because you think that you know modern theory, that doesn't mean that you know all yet. Just accept what is.]<<<<<
