They Might Be Glorifications

What follows is fan created songs called QFGlorifications. These are songs about QFG using existing songs. All the songs except for one are inspired by the group They Might Be Giants. Hence the title. The one exception is the only song that was done by me, which will be the first song listed and will be the only song not originally sung by TMBG. All the rest were created by Deep Eyes.

There are a few songs didn't make it on the Sierra Forums due to Deep Eyes' early termination, so some of them have never been released to the mass public. They will be listed in the same order that they were posted on the forums, and I will include the forewords to the songs as well, if they are applicable, which most of them do have. I will also write the name of the actual title of the original song underneath the QFGlorification title in parentheses.

I'm basically just copying and pasting from the notepad files he sent me, so they still retain their original forum coding, which is the reason for the asterisks in front of every line, because on the forums, that was the only way you could do a line break. Little update. Apparently, Sierra changed their forums from WebX, which is what the old forums used. I just stopped by to check on some things only to find everything different.

I'm not going to list the lyric notes for the real songs here, because that would just be too much text, space, and just a big pain in the ass. For any of the TMBG songs, you can go to the This Might Be A Wiki site and just search for the song title. For the Napoleon XIV song, you can go here, Songfacts.com. That place has some songfacts too, plus the lyrics. Hence, the title, again.

They Came To Whisk Me Away, Ha-Haaa!
(They're Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa! - Napoleon XIV)
Remember when the land of Spielburg was in trouble
And they needed a hero who could defeat the brigands
And drive away the ogress to keep the land a safe place again?

Well, a hero came and did all that
Along with helping a merchant
And his two little katta friends
And well, as you can see
That hero it is me.

And they came to whisk me away, ha-haaa!
They came to whisk me away ho-ho, he-he, ha-haaa,
To a desert land where trouble is lurking all the time
And I'll be happy to see some talking cats who call me Effendi.
And they came to whisk me away, ha-haaa!

I thought the trouble was a joke and so I laughed, I laughed
But then I saw the trouble it is real and now I think
I'm completely over my head. Right?

I know I laughed, I heard me laugh.
I laughed, I laughed, and laughed,
And then I screamed because I'm completely over my head.

And they came to whisk me away, ha-haaa!
They came to whisk me away ho-ho, he-he, ha-haaa,
To a happy land with enchanted trees, and a pesky saurus
And basket weavers who sit and smile and whose only purpose
Is to tell me there's and earthly elemental lurking the streets.
And they came to whisk me away, ha-haaa!

They cooked me food, and let me sleep
And now I am to pay them back
By saving their city single-handedly, huh?
Well, if I don't, they'll find me yet
And they'll call the ASPCA those mangy cats!

To a happy land with enchanted trees, and a pesky saurus
And basket weavers who sit and smile and whose only purpose
Is to tell me there's and earthly elemental lurking the streets.
And they came to whisk me away, ha-haaa!

To a desert land where trouble is lurking all the time
And I'll be happy to see some talking cats who call me Effendi.
And they came to whisk me away, ha-haaa!

This is my second TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. And just for a little useless trivia, James Ensor (1860-1949) is a famous Belgium painter and why TMBG chose to sing a song about him is beyond me. So, I hope you enjoy this TMBGlorification.
Meet Famous Adventurer
("Meet James Ensor", They Might Be Giants)
*Meet Famous Adventurer, Glorianna's famous writer
*Wake him up and shake his hand
*Appreciate the man

*Before there were heroes schools, before there were heroes
*He lived with his books and wrote by himself
*The world was transformed
*A hero emerged
*A graduate with honors from the correspondence school
*Who met Famous Adventurer, Glorianna's famous writer
*Grab a book and get it signed
*Understand the man

*He lost all his fame
*He didn't need his fame
*He took a swig of Hippocrene and now he feels young
*The world has forgotten
*The world moved along
*The cobwebs at his window made him live alone

*Meet Famous Adventurer
*Meet Famous Adventurer, Glorianna's famous writer
*Wake him up and shake his hand
*Appreciate the man

I'm going to try to post a new QFGlorification at least once or twice a week. Granted of course, it'll never stay that way since some songs are harder to Glorify than others and that TMBG don't have an infinite amout of songs.
Back to Song List

This is my third TMBGlorifying QFGlorification and for more useless trivia, "Particle Man" is one of two songs by TMBG that was played on Tiny Toons, if anyone ever watched that show, then you know what it looks like. It has Plucky Duck as Particle Man. Enjoy this TMBGlorification.
Hero Man
("Particle Man", They Might Be Giants)
*Hero man, hero man
*Doing the things a hero can
*What's he sound like?
*It's not important
*Hero man
*Is he a pixel or is he a speck?
*When he's underwater
*Can he hold his breath?
*Or does he have an amulet?
*Nobody knows
*Hero man

*Jackalman, Jackalman
*Jackalman hates hero man
*They have a fight, Jackal wins
*Jackalman

*Bearman, Bearman
*Invades the whole island, Bearman
*Runs away from the larger man
*Bearman
*He's a got a spear with a pointy end
*A very sharp end, and maybe some money on hand
*And when he dies, it's bounty land
*Vicious man, Bearman

*Cougarman, Cougarman
*Hit on the head and away he ran
*Lives his life on an island, man
*Cougarman
*Is he a man or is he a cat?
*Is fighting him completely worth it?
*Who came up with Cougarman?
*Pathetic man, Cougarman

*Jackalman, Jackalman
*Jackalman hates Cougarman
*They have a fight
*Jackal wins
*Jackalman
Back to Song List

Since this is my fourth TMBGlorifying QFGlorification, I figured it's only fitting I did one with "Number Three" called "Number Four." Another useless trivia is that "Number Three" was redone with Greek lyrics and was called "Greek #3" and was sung by John Linnell, one of the two Johns, who is one-eighth Hellenic. I like this TMBGlorification, I hope you do too.
Number Four
("Number Three", They Might Be Giants)
*There's only three dances in me, and I just did a fourth
*Don't know where I got the inspiration or how I was even forced
*Spent my whole life saving cities and helping people from graves
*For the three dances in me and the fourth one I just made.

*A rich man once told me
*"Hey, hurry up and save"
*A poor man once told me
*About something not to drink
*Now I'm in the middle like a hero who can't speak 'cause

*There's just three dances in me and I just did a fourth
*Don't know where I got the inspiration or how I was even forced
*Spent my whole life saving cities and helping people from graves
*For the three dances in me and the fourth one I just made.

*So I went to the Correspondence School
*And I asked old what's-his-name
*Has he ever gotten writer's block
*Or something like the same
*He just started talking
*Like he was old and weak
*"If there's just three dances in ya, boy
*Whaddya want from me?"

*So I got dressed up in harem pants
*And a bikini top
*But I politely told the ladies
*"You'll still have to call me Sir
*Because I have to keep my self-respect
*I'll never be a hero
*Since there's just three dances out the door
*And this is Number Four."
Back to Song List

Here's my fifth TMBGlorifying QFGlorification in my semi-goal for once-a-week/twice-a-week TMBGlorifications. For some useless trivia, "Cowtown" is just one of the many weird and nonsense songs by TMBG. They are also working on "Cabbagetown" which is an actual place in Atlanta.
Kattatown
("Cowtown," They Might Be Giants)
*I'm going down to Kattatown
*The Kattas' are friends to me
*They live within a desert town and that's where I will be
*With all the sand, the sand
*Oh, all that I can see
*All the Kattas will call me Effendi

*The lonely plant woman has some new leaves overturned
*A feather and compassion fruit is an adventure we have spurned, we've spurned
*Some new leaves overturned
*And a rock is overturned

*And so I'm going down to Kattatown
*The Kattas' are friends to me
*They live within a desert town and that's where I will be
*With all the sand, the sand
*Oh, all that I can see
*All the Kattas will call me Effendi

*They yearn for me to save their home, and help an Emir overthrown
*I visited the astrologer and he said my hero status shone
*But he foresees me all alone, alone
*In a cave I'm all alone
*In a cave I'm all alone

*And so I'm going down to Kattatown
*The Kattas' are friends to me
*They live within a desert town and that's where I will be
*With all the sand, the sand
*Oh, all that I can see
*All the Kattas will call me Effendi

*Yes, I'm going down to Kattatown
*The Kattas' are friends to me
*They live within a desert town and that's where I will be
*With all the sand, the sand
*Oh, all that I can see
*All the Kattas will call me Effendi

*Yes, All the Kattas will
*All the Kattas will
*Call me
*Call me
*Effendi

And coincidentally, the same time I'm doing my TMBGlorification Saga, TMBG will be appearing on "Late Night with Conan O' Brien" tonight September 7, at 12:30-12:35 depending on your area. ;)

Back to Song List

Here's my sixth TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. I used the default name for our hero, because it fit better for this TMBGlorification. For another useless trivia, TMBG recorded two different "They Got Lost" songs, one is fast paced, the other is calm and slow.
He Got Lost
("They Got Lost," They Might Be Giants)
*Dinarzad says a hero will be here any minute now
*But she's getting impatient and her shop is closing anyhow
*He can hear her jingle some money from behind her counter
*But the sound is heard from everywhere on the streets of Shapeir

*I heard he might be somewhere in this town
*Devon Aidendale got lost, running around

*Ali Chica told Devon, "Take a left, then a left, then a right.
*There should be a money symbol assuming this map is right."
*Devon looked at him and said, "Wait a minute, what?
*I have no idea where to go, from the directions I just got."

*I heard he might be somewhere in this town
*Devon Aidendale got lost, running around

*Devon said to himself, "I see a light straight down that way."
*So he ran toward the source and said, "Whoa, what the heck, hey
*How did I end up back at Ali Chica's place?"
*Keapon would have died laughing at the expression on our hero's face

*I heard he might be somewhere in this town
*Devon Aidendale got lost, running around
*Running around, running around
*He's still running around

Some of you might be wondering why, if I have a bunch of parodical songs, (I don't think that's even a word, but anyway,) in storage, do I not post them all at one time or at least everyday. And my answer to that is because if I post a QFGlorification everyday, you'll eventually get sick of seeing me post another one every day, and that's not what I want. I want to like them without getting sick, and I give you time in between each song so you can like them without getting sick. :) No offense to those who do post one everyday, it's that that's just not my way of doing things.
Back to Song List

Here's my seventh TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. For more useless trivia, young boys were the first telephone operators, but companies realized the mistake they made, when the boys would make crank calls and curse at customers. So in 1878, they started to hire women and the first woman operator was Emma Nutt. I wish my name was Nutt.
Two Magicians Are Floating By
("Operators Are Standing By," They Might Be Giants)

*Two magicians are floating by
*Playing games and drinking root beer
*Bounce some force bolts to the end of the room
*And wish they had more fun

*Two magicians are floating by
*Buring holes in rugs and carpets
*Making jokes about rats and heroes
*And days gone by

*Two magicians are floating by
*Talking about their survival
*When Erasmus ate too much candy
*And suddenly went to sleep

*That's enough talking, Fenrus

*Two magicians are floating by
*Playing games and drinking root beer
*Pass around a comic strip
*And wish they had more fun
Back to Song List

This is my eighth TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. For more useless trivia, "I Palindrome I" contains no real palindromes in the written lyrics, but the background vocals, use the palindromes "Man o nam" and "Egad, a base tone denotes a bad age." So, I hope you enjoy this issue of the TMBGlorification Saga.
I Honorless I
("I Palindrome I," They Might Be Giants)
*Some day I'll rob a bank and get the money
*Arestes looks at me and says, "My sentiments exactly,
*You stole my gig"
*I honorless I, I honorless I
*I honorless I, I honorless I
*And I am a blackjacking thief
*Knocking out all the guards around me
*I honorless I

*See that pocket-knife hanging from your toolbelt
*See that innocent man with the random zig-zag
*Now I'll rob him blind
*I honorless I, I honorless I
*I honorless I, I honorless I
*And I am a blackjacking thief
*Knocking out all the guards around me
*I honorless I, I honorless I
*I honorless I, I honorless I

*"Hey I am ready," she said "though I can't marry you."
*"Watch," said I
*"Beloved," I said "watch you marry can't I though," said she,
*"Ready am I hey"

*See the thieves from the guilds returning
*See the bank make robberies harder
*Thief honorless thief
*I honorless I, I honorless I
*I honorless I, I honorless I
*And I am a blackjacking thief
*Knocking out all the guards around me
*I honorless I, I honorless I
*I honorless I, I honorless I
Back to Song List

Here's my ninth TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. For some useless trivia, neither John or John are twins nor do they have any twins in their family. Enjoy this issue of the TMBGlorification Saga.
My Demon Twin
("My Evil Twin," They Might Be Giants)
*My demon twin, bad luck my friend
*He always wants to fight when I want to defend
*He scares me so, like I scare myself
*With that book of magic sitting up upon my self

*Playing Awari 'till the morning light
*Tossing rocks on the neighbor's lawn
*Then sleep all through the day, get up and start again
*I can hear some monkeys somewhere but I don't know why

*My demon twin hurts me again
*Harami looks for a time to strike, so can I run up some stairs by then

*Here he comes again, my demon twin
*My friends are way too busy, fighting their own fiends

*Who emerged from weird mirror
*And resembles a dead man from long ago
*I'd love to see you leave
*'Cause of all the trouble you have caused me
*By wasting all my time

*My twin, my twin, my twin

*I know he looks like me
*Hates work like me
*And walks like me
*He's even got a twin like me

*My demon twin, bad luck my friend
*I know some day I'll meet him
*And I know exactly where and when
Back to Song List

This is my tenth TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. Boy, the time sure flies by doesn't it? For more useless trivia, since I don't have a specific trivia for this song, it's going to be generic. TMBG used to be called "El Grupo de Rock 'n' Roll," before changing their name six months later. And I'm now in the archives. It's like getting inducted into some weird Hall of Fame. :smiletear:
Since You Don't Know the Formula
("Someone Keeps Moving My Chair," They Might Be Giants)
*Dr. Cranium
*Dr. Cranium
*There's a knock on the door, Dr. Cranium
*But before he can wake up the ugly woman
*There's some disgusting business left
*For him to pass off to:
*Something unpleasant has spilled in the swamp
*As our hero collects some he says:

*"Why help Cranium?
*Why help Cranium?
*I just wanted some potions, Dr. Cranium
*Is it my fault that I lost the book
*That contains the ingredients
*To help you with your scientific outlook?"

*But Dr. Cranium says, "I don't care,
*You'll just have to live without it,
*Since you don't know the formula."

*"Would you mind if I helped you out
*By getting some goo
*In exchange for some strong water?
*Would it be okay with you
*If I saved your friend
*From an inevitable death
*By pulling him to safety, if it's alright
*From an empty grave?"

*Dr. Cranium
*Dr. Cranium
*"I'm not done with you yet, Dr. Cranium
*You have to give me some potions
*For poison and health
*Since I'm fighting a lot
*And I get hurt and stung
*So I can't live without it."

*But Dr. Cranium says, "I don't care,
*You'll just have to live without it,
*Since you don't know the formula.
*Since you don't know the formula."

*Dr. Cranium says, "I don't care,
*You'll just have to live without it,
*Since you don't know the formula."
Back to Song List

This is my eleventh TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. For useless trivia, both John and John moved to Brooklyn, New York in 1981, where they still reside. I hope you enjoy this TMBGlorification because I had to do this one without any lyric sheets. I don't normally suggest what kind of songs you have to get, but this is definitely one song you should listen to.
Shapeir City
("New York City," They Might Be Giants)
*We arrived late last night on a magic carpet
*And I was glad to be on ground 'cause I was going to vomit
*Then I said "It's burning, it's burning.
*God, I hate this weather.
*Now I have to live through this
*Just to put this place back together."

*We met in the winter in the Hero's Tale Inn
*The kattas were just strangers then
*And you were rather thin
*You said you'd take me to a city
*If I helped to save your life
*I gave you money
*I gave you food
*I was never more broke than that night

*Now everyone's my friend in Shapeir City
*Everything's so beautiful
*Zayishah's young and pretty
*The streets are made of cold stones
*But it's not too dark to see
*That the best thing about Shapeir City is
*I'm Effendi.

*Honest Ali Fakir, Keapon Laffin, Abu al-Njun, Enchantress Aziza,
*Saurus Lot, Adventurer's Guild, A place of WIT where wizards are built,
*Apothecary, and oasis, merchant Alichica, I sure will miss.

*You told me about Raseir
*Just the other day
*"A caravan is leaving soon
*So join them and go away."

*I packed my stuff
*Joined with the group
*I can't believe it's true
*I'm three days from Raseir City
*And that's three days I feel blue.

*'Cause everyone's my friend in Shapeir City
*Everything's so beautiful
*Zayishah's young and pretty
*The streets are made of cold stones
*But it's not too dark to see
*That the best thing about Shapeir City is
*I'm Effendi.

*Now everyone's my friend in Shapeir City
*Everything's so beautiful
*Zayishah's young and pretty
*The streets are made of cold stones
*But it's not too dark to see
*That the best thing about Shapeir City is
*I'm Effendi.
Back to Song List

This is my twelfth TMBGlorifiying QFGlorification. For another useless general trivia, TMBG have released ten complete albums including one exclusively released on the internet called "Long Tall Weekend." But just so there's no confusion, "Doctor Worm" isn't on the internet album, it's on "Severe Tire Damage."
Ad Avis
("Doctor Worm," They Might Be Giants)
*They call me Ad Avis
*Good evening, how are you?
*I'm Ad Avis
*I'm interested in you
*I want to get Iblis
*But I need you to help me
*Your old friend Ad Avis
*I live for this day

*I'd like to rule the world
*I think that I need you
*But only for a while
*I'll take the statue and I'll run
*Then you're the one who's left behind
*Because only way out is blocked
*'Cause I caused a cave-in.

*When I get into it
*I can't tell if you are watching me lighting candle sticks
*When I give the signal, my friend
*Iblis will destroy the whole world

*Someday somebody else will help me
*And will call me back from beyond the grave
*They will call me Ad Avis
*Good evening, how are you?
*I'm Ad Avis
*I'm interested in you
*I want to get Iblis
*But I need you to help me
*Your old friend Ad Avis
*I live for this day

*And I'd to rule the world
*I think that I need you
*But only for a while
*I'll show you my true power
*Then you can try to stop me if you think you can
*I'm not quite dead yet
*But they call me Ad Avis
Back to Song List

This is my thirteenth TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. My God, he's entering his teen years. And it's spooky too, I'm posting my thirteenth QFGlorification on Friday in October. And for yet another general useless trivia John Linnell released a solo album entitled "State Songs". It's not an educational album, but it is an entertaining and indispensable album.
Dragon Fire
("Pencil Rain," They Might Be Giants)
*The possible dream
*The finale it seems
*The moment that some call eternal that some say is dire
*Now software in each hand all computers become manned
*The sequel is named Dragon Fire

*The customers stand
*With cash in their hands
*Sierra's people are focused as they look at the buyer
*They look at the product sales
*And hope that it won't derail
*The legendary Dragon Fire

*And now hear the roar from the fans galore
*The booming excitement through the neighborhood while the people perspire
*For the game that will end it all that speaks of a noble cause by becoming the king in Dragon Fire
*In Dragon Fire
*In Dragon Fire
*In Dragon Fire

Here's my fourteenth TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. For more useless TMBG trivia "Man, It's So Loud In Here" was the song TMBG played on "Late Night with Conan O' Brien" promoting their newest album "Mink Car."
Man, It's So Far From Here
("Man It's So Loud In Here," They Might Be Giants)
*Man, it's so far from here

*I saved Mordavia
*From evil Avoozl
*It's permanently extinct
*Erana is dressed so lovely
*I can't stay for too long
*I can't tell the staff to stay for the next game

*Whoa hey, wait a sec,
*I've got something to say
*Man, it's so far from here
*When Erasmus teleports me
*And I continue again
*I'll rescue Silmaria

*I have to carry all my things
*Until I visit Ann's Inn
*There'll be nowhere to place anything

*Whoa hey, wait a sec,
*I've got something to say
*Man, it's so far from here
*When Erasmus teleports me
*And I continue again
*I'll rescue Silmaria

*They're all shouting something about
*The king and his dying
*They are starting over completely
*Now there's seven new contestants
*Everyone's excited and confused

*Whoa hey, wait a sec,
*I've got something to say
*Man it's so far from here
*When I start the tread machine
*And I can run again
*I'll rescue Silmaria

*Whoa hey, wait a sec,
*I've got something to say
*Man, it's so far from here
*Man, it's so far from here
*Man, it's so far from here
*Man, it's so far from here
*Man, it's so far from here
*Man, it's so far from here
*Man, it's so far from here

Here's my fifteenth TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. I want to acknowledge baptiste22 for recommending this song as a possible TMBGlorification. (I bet you forgot I promised to mention you thought of this QFGlorification, huh bap? ;) ) For more useless general trivia, TMBG first played as They Might Be Giants at a Soho club called "Dr. B's" in 1982.
He'll Need A Crane
("They'll Need A Crane," They Might Be Giants)
*Hero needs to win a rite
*But that Rite of Destiny is impossible
*Impossible
*He needs to go by air
*There's something on Science Island there but it's a pain
But it's a pain

*He'll need a crane, he'll need a crane
*To put the gondola together part by part
*To make it fly he needs to buy something where heat will gain
*He'll need a crane, he'll need a crane
*To pick the broken ruin up again
*To make it go, he needs to know how to think with his own brain

*FA's book is all he has
*But finding it is making our hero mad, our hero mad
*That painting Wolfie had
*Is making him feel glad, because it's main
*Because it's main

*He'll need a crane, he'll need a crane
*To put the gondola together part by part
*To make it fly he needs to buy something where heat will gain
*He'll need a crane, he'll need a crane
*To pick the broken ruin up again
*To make it go, he needs to know how to think with his own brain

*Don't talk about your work again
*No no, the Docs don't hate you
*I know you're tired and you don't want to do anymore
*But there's a forest you should check out, where the other Dryads like to grow - you can dance with them and they might give you magic wood
*Our hero flirts with other gals
*The gals know about his polygamy fad
*It's pretty bad
*Call off the wedding band
*Nobody wants to hear that one again
*Play that again

*He'll need a crane, he'll need a crane
*To put the gondola together part by part
*To make it fly he needs to buy something where heat will gain
*He'll need a crane, he'll need a crane
*To pick the broken ruin up again
*To make it go, he needs to know how to think with his own brain
*He'll need a crane, he'll need a crane, he'll need a crane
*He'll need a crane, he'll need a crane, he'll need a crane

This is my sixteenth TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. My little baby's old enough to drive now. :smiletear: Anyway, for more useless general trivia, TMBG have a dial-a-song at 718-387-6962, where you call up and listen to music on your telephone for only a regular call to Brooklyn. So if you're in Brooklyn, it's a free call. :) This TMBGlorification is inspired by psychman6's suggestion. So, thanks, Psych. ;)

And if you want to be acknowledged for a QFGlorification, just suggest an easy or cool song to QFGlorify, and preferably something to glorify it with, (i.e. baptiste's suggestion for Science Island for "They'll Need a Crane") and if I have something to parody it with, then there's a greater chance of me using it, but if all you have is a song, then that's okay too. And if I use it, you can be acknowledged too. :)
Hero Me
("Mister Me," They Might Be Giants)
*No, no, no
*No, no, no
*No, no, no
*No, no, no

*Once a guy name Hero Me bemoaned a great regret:
*"I've wandered to the Atlantis sea, but can't survive 'cause I can't breathe,
*I wound up mad you bet."

*No, no, no
*No, no, no
*No, no, no
*No, no, no

*So on the port that deadhead Gort goes in the bounding main
*Enjoy the show don't go too slow into the Triton's Sea
*Or end up mad like Hero Me

*He ended up mad
*He ended up mad
*He ended up really, really, really mad
*He ended up mad
*He ended up mad
*He ended up really, really, really mad

*No, no, no
*No, no, no
*No, no, no
*No, no, no

*So give something to Hero me, and hero, make him glad
*To swim the myth the Triton Sea and cease with a Triton peace treaty
*That hero, made him mad

*He ended up mad, he ended up mad, he ended up really, really, really mad
*He ended up mad, he ended up mad, he ended up really, really, really mad
*He ended up mad, he ended up mad, he ended up really, really, really mad
*He ended up mad, he ended up mad, he ended up really, really, really mad

Here's my seventeenth TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. This song is concocted from the results I received from the "Poll of Death" I did a while back. So thanks to everyone who helped. :) This is my first TMBGlorification where I used the same title name as the actual song. For more useless general trivia, TMBG have done over 1,500 live appearances since their first appearance. And just so there won't be any argumentation, if you check QFG 3, it is spelled "Smoky", not "Smokey".
Dead
("Dead," They Might Be Giants)
*I forgot to put out the
*Fire I lit in the Savannah
*As told to me by Smoky
*I came back as a lonely fire
*That was lit in the Savannah
*That wasn't put out correctly

*Did the bong in the apothecary
*Result in a horrendous demise
*By toking up that third time?
*Now it's over I'm dead and I haven't
*Finished what I have to do
*Or, I'm still alive
*Because of an easter egg

*I will never say the rhythmic magic phrase again
*Whenever I stand too close to Baba Yaga's hut
*I didn't apologize for when I cast
*The thermonuclear blast
*Without warning anyone beforehand

*Did the bong in the apothecary
*Result in a horrendous demise
*By toking up that third time?
*Now it's over I'm dead and I haven't
*Finished what I have to do
*Or, I'm still alive
*Because of an easter egg

*So I won't workout again
*And you won't see my head fly off the windmill
*And I won't be around ever anymore
*'Cause there won't be a hero waiting in store

*I forgot to put out the
*Fire I lit in the Savannah
*As told to me by Smoky
*I came back as a lonely fire
*That was lit in the Savannah
*That wasn't put out correctly

*Did the bong in the apothecary

*By toking up that third time?
*Now it's over I'm dead and I haven't

Here's my eighteenth TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. My baby can smoke, toke, and play the lotto. :) This is by far, my shortest QFGlorifcation yet. Thanks to BlueNinja for suggesting this song as a possible TMBGlorification. For another useless trivia, John Flansburgh is extremely terrified of spiders. It's almost, but not quite a case of arachnophobia.
Dragon
("Spider," They Might Be Giants)
*Dragon
*Where is our hero?
*Dragon

*Get rid of
*Dragon
*Stab that dragon!
*Dragon
*We must wake you, dragon

*(Owwwww)

*I promise that I'll kill you
*Dragon

*Dragon
*We must wake you, dragon
*Dragon

*Get rid of
*Dragon
*Must stop
*Dragon

Here's my nineteenth TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. Thanks to Kitty Katta for mentioning this song for QFGlorification nomination. In fact, if I didn't QFGlorify this song, he definitely would have. ;) For more useless trivia, "The Guitar" is obviously inspired by "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" and on the music video the chords A, C#min7, Bmin, E that are shown are the mass majority of the cords that are played in the song. Wow, a double useless trivia. That's another first in my TMBGlorification Saga.
The Dagger
["The Guitar," ("The Lion Sleeps Tonight,") They Might Be Giants]
*Hey
*Who's that throwing
*Hey
*The dagger?

*Is it Chief?
*I don't know
*Is it Chief?
*I don't know

*In the thieves' guild, the secret thieves' guild, the blackbird has a role
*In the thieves' guild, the secret thieves' guild, the blackbird has a role

Here's my twentieth TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. He's finally out of those reckless teen years and joined up with Twentieth Century Fox. :bg: Anyway, for another useless general trivia, "She's An Angel" is one of the nineteen songs on TMBG first album. Can you tell I'm running out of useless general trivia?
She's Erana
("She's An Angel," They Might Be Giants)
*I met someone in the garden
*She was only in my dreams
*But everyone called me crazy, but I knew that I was not
*We both said, "I really love you,"
*Avoozl was to blame
*So I brought her back from a crystal ball by breaking it with a staff

*Why did she leave me after setting her free?
*How should I react? These things happen to other heroes
*They don't happen at all in fact

*When you're following Erana
*Does it mean you have to visit every place that she made?
*Somewhere she's waiting in the darkness
*Calling you a hero, calling you the nicest things
*I heard they have a soul program
*When they bring her out, you have to care
*Sometimes I think I kind of like that and
*Other times I think I'm already dead

*Going to ask if it's sacrificial
*Going to speak to man in charge
*The dog Cerebrus said I cannot enter
*Unless I stay for a long, long time
*I found out she's Erana
*I don't think she knows I know
*I'm worried that something will happen to her
*If Katrina's my choice over her

*Why, why did she leave me after I set her free?
*How should I react? These things happen to other heroes
*They don't happen at all

*When you're following Erana
*Does it mean you have to visit every place that she made?
*Somewhere she's waiting in the darkness
*Calling you a hero, calling you the nicest things
*I heard they have a soul program
*When they bring her out, you have to care

This should be my twenty-first TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. We're going to Vegas, baby! This QFGlorification is from the request of Rognik. I wanted to use the word "hero" instead of "famous", but I couldn't get it sound right. So, our hero's now famous. For some useless trivia, TMBG's "They Might Be Giants" isn't on their first album They Might Be Giants as you might think, but it's actually on their third album Flood.
He Might Be Famous
("They Might Be Giants," They Might Be Giants)
*He's a, he's a hero

*He might be famous
*Boy
*He might be famous

*He might be weak
*He might be strong
*He might not know what's right from wrong

*He might be famous
*Boy
*He might be famous

*He might be brave
*He might be crushed
*He might be FA's apprentice guy

*To make the treadmill go faster
*So that everyone needs help from a hero
*Just to keep from being thrown into Hades

*Conspiracy is in the air
*Conspiracy is everywhere
*He'll try to save us
Because he might be famous
*And what are we going to do unless he is

*He might be famous
*Boy
*He might be famous

*He mocks the bald
*He fights the troll
*He fights others besides the troll

*He's a hero

*He might be famous
*Boy
*He might be famous

*He might be real
*He might be dead
*He might be really, really dead

*Conspiracy is in the air
*Conspiracy is everywhere
*He'll try to save us
*Because he might be famous
*And what are we going to do unless he is

*He might be famous

Here's my twenty-second TMBGlorification QFGlorification. This here is now my shortest QFGlorification, so ignore my previous post of saying that "Spider" was my shortest post ever. This one is my shortest post as of yet, meaning there could be one shorter sometime in the future, but that at the moment this is my shortest. And thanks to BlueNinja for suggesting this as a possible QFGlorification. BlueNinja is the first person to be acknowledged more than once for a TMBGlorification.
I Dug My Grave
("Dig My Grave," They Might Be Giants)
*I dug my grave
*I dug my grave

*Every time I go to the guild
*I see old Igor wave
*I dug my grave
*I dug my grave

*Every time I save that man
*I hear that hunchback say
*"I dug my grave"

*I dug my grave
*I dug my grave
*I dug my grave
*I dug my grave

Here's my twenty-third TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. I think this is my twenty-third one, I'm starting to lose track. Anyway, for some useless trivia TMBG enlisted the help of producers Clive Langor and Alan Winstanley, who helped them with their British top ten hit "Birdhouse in Your Soul," hoping to recreate that success. Unfortunately UK author Zadie Smith informed TMBG that in Britain, "bangs" are called "fringe" so nobody would know what they were talking about. How sad. :/
Fangs
("Bangs," They Might Be Giants)
*Fangs - inside your mouth your teeth hangs
*Blow my mind your magic goddess I dig your fangs
*Fangs given to those undead
*To live forever alone as you live as an undead

*Once with a girl that fell in love with some monster now she had
*Fangs are that on which Mordavia hangs
*I'm only holding this stake so I can look at your fangs

*Fangs are like a magic wood staff as useless as that while fully operational
*And in case you think I here 'cause I like you a lot
*Just remember what I said I can kill you on the spot

*Fangs are that on which Mordavia hangs
*I'm only holding this stake so I can look at your fangs

*Fangs - inside your mouth your teeth hangs
*Blow my mind your magic goddess I dig your fangs
*Fangs given to those undead
*To live forever alone as you live as an undead

*And though I like you anyway, check out your haircut
*A transformation occurred now you need some makeup

*Fangs are that on which Mordavia hangs
*I'm only holding this stake so I can look at your fangs
*I'm only holding this stake so I can look at your fangs

What you're looking at now is my twenty-fourth TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. For some useless trivia, TMBG travel into a pretty much unfamiliar territory ask they perform one of their very, very few straight-out love songs. You know, the kind you can play while you're out on a date. Smoochy smoochy. :bg:
An Actual Kiss
("Another First Kiss," They Might Be Giants)
*I'm asleep but she's talking to me
*She floats around within a crystal glass
*As she runs out of things to say, and disappears when I set her free

*"How 'bout an actual kiss?" she said "How 'bout an actual kiss?" I said
*How 'bout an actual kiss like this? How 'bout an actual kiss?

*Other people were too deviating, and always wanting to control the world
*Got tired of wasting all my time
*Now I'm not worrying at all

*"How 'bout an actual kiss?" she said "How 'bout an actual kiss?" I said
*I want an actual kiss like this. How 'bout an actual kiss?

*You ask me "Do we belong together?" And I can tell you "You belong with me."
*But we've run out of things to say and we'll be happy anyway so...

*"How 'bout an actual kiss?" she said "How 'bout an actual kiss?" I said
*I want an actual kiss like this. How 'bout an actual kiss?
*"How 'bout an actual kiss?" she said "How 'bout an actual kiss?" I said
*I want an actual kiss like this. How 'bout an actual kiss?

Here is my twenty-fifth TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. Our silver anniversary. :smiletear: According to the car insurance people, my little baby's no longer as big a threat as when he was younger. ;) For useless trivia, Lisa Klapp, a friend of TMBG, said the "I don't want the world" line from her phone at work. Also, that line originated from a conversation about money, not from graffiti on a bridge. But, if you're driving from Boulder to the airport in Denver, you can see that line that somebody painted on a bridge. No, it wasn't me. This song is inspired by baptiste22's suggestion who considers this one his favorite TMBG song. :)
Ann Agrama
("Ana Ng," They Might Be Giants)
*Make a home at an inn no particular
*To the name of this town in Glorianna
*Exit through the northern most gates
*Showing the world of the game this was written for

*My personal room is upside down from there
*Water spirals above lost Atlantis
*And her voice is a backwards record
*It's like a whirlpool and it never ends

*Ann Agrama and I are getting old
*And we still will not walk in the glow of each other's majestic presence
*Listen here Ann hear my words
*They're the ones you would think I would say if I was the gnome for you

*All alone through the trip into Hades
*The Gatekeeper yelling "Small gnome after all"
*Who was at the coronation?
*Why is the seat still warm? Who had been there?

*Or the time when the statues broke in half
*To the rise in the mountain of the dragon
*And in the back of the edge of hearing
*These are the words that the voice was repeating:

*Ann Agrama and I are getting old
*And we still will not walk in the glow of each other's majestic presence
*Listen here Ann hear my words
*They're the ones you would think I would say if I was the gnome for you

*When I was walking once I saw this painted on a sign:
*"I don't want the world, I just want the inn"
*They will need me here, and I know you're there
*Where the world goes by like when you don't care
*And it sticks on Icarus wings
*Everything sticks on Icarus wing
*Everything sticks until it melts away
*And the truth is we can't save everyone

*Ann Agrama and I are getting old
*And we still will not walk in the glow of each other's majestic presence
*Listen here Ann hear my words
*They're the ones you would think I would say if I was the gnome for you

*Ann Agrama and I are getting old
*And we still will not walk in the glow of each other's majestic presence
*Listen here Ann hear my words
*They're the ones you would think I would say if I was the gnome for you

*Ann Agrama and I are getting old
*And we still will not walk in the glow of each other's majestic presence
*Listen here Ann hear my words
*They're the ones you would think I would say if I was the gnome for you

*Ann Agrama and I are getting old
*And we still will not walk in the glow of each other's majestic presence
*Listen here Ann hear my words
*They're the ones you would think I would say if I was the gnome for you

This here is my twenty-sixth TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. Boy, time is flying like an arrow. ;) This is the second time I've talked about fangs on dead people. Not that I'd talk about fangs on living people. For another episode in the useless trivia department The line with the fang opening a can of tomato juice was inspired by an old Saturday morning cartoon which may have been "Milton the Monster."
She's Got A Fang
("I've Got A Fang," They Might Be Giants)
*Glistening white triangular tooth
*Open up the box of the dead woman

*She's got a fang
*She's got a fang
*She's got a fang

*I was trapped in a dungeon cell
*Found Katrina and I copped a feel

*She's got a fang
*She's got a fang
*She's got a fang

*I was chained in a bondage hold
*And Katrina geased me to find the scrolls

*She's got a fang
*She's got a fang
*She's got a fang

*She's got a fang
*She's got a fang
*She's got a fang

*Glistening white triangular tooth
*Open up the box of the dead woman

This is my twenty-seventh TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. This is one of my shorter TMBGlorifications, but it's not the size that counts, it's how you use it. ;) For some useless general trivia TMBG have raided the airwaves which includes music for three Diet Dr. Pepper commercials, the Chrysler ad campaign with "Yeh Yeh," and the new series "Life 360" on PBS. Not to mention the song "Boss of Me" for "Malcolm in the Middle" on Fox and music for "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" on Comedy Central.
Simbani Child
("Rabid Child," They Might Be Giants)
*Guard, please don't take me away

*Simbani child stays at home, doesn't talk to me
*Heroes pass saying "goo goo gaa goo" to the kid
*Uhura and the Liontaur see him every day
*"Poltergiest" and "principal" are the only words he knows

*Poltergiest
*Poltergiest
*Principal
*Poltergiest
*Principal
*Poltergiest
*Principal
*Poltergiest

*If you pass the Simbani child say "poltergiest" for me
*Simbani child
*Simbani child
*Simbani child
Back to Song List

This is my twenty-eighth TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. Unlike my previous "Dragon" and "Dagger" songs, I'm aware that this and my previous song are back-to-back like the actual songs. I did them both on the same day one right after the other. For another chapter in the useless general trivia, John Linnell is right-handed and John Flansburg is left-handed. I lean more towards Flansburg more because I'm left-handed too. ;) Hey, we ten percent have to stick together, you know. :bg: And this TMBGlorification is made possible from a psychman6 suggestion.
She's Got My Extra Change Of Clothes
("Nothing's Gonna Change My Clothes," They Might Be Giants)
*All the people are so saddened now, the town is caving in
*I'm glad I'm the only one with my own personal waterskin
*But every little thing's a punishment that falls on different days
*And imprisonment's a guarantee if you even try to pray.

*And the mirror, it reflects the man inside the moon
*That was given as a reward to help a woman run
*A yellow wig, a sheet of veil, a pair of new x-ray glasses
*Some people say dishonorable, but to me it's a hero class

*And nothing's ever like that girl
*But I don't care if I can see her derriere
*'Cause I know she's got my extra change of clothes that I gave to her

*All the people are so saddened now, the town is caving in
*I'm glad I'm the only one with my own personal waterskin
*But every little thing's a punishment that falls on different days
*And imprisonment's a guarantee if you even try to pray

*And nothing's ever like that girl
*But I don't care if I can see her derriere
*I know she's got my extra change of clothes that I gave to her

*No, no, no, no
*Nothing's ever like that girl
*But I don't care if I can see her derriere
*I know she's got my extra change of clothes that I gave to her

This here is my twenty-ninth TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. For useless trivia, The Elegant Too remixed "Wicked Little Critta" which celebrates the "old school" sound of the mid-80's inner city suburbs of Boston and also the "older school" of the early-70's of Eastern Massachusetts. It was also made for the hockey fans of America.

Oh, and I'd really appreciate any suggestions for "The Bells Are Ringing."
Haughty Giant Boasta
("Wicked Little Critta," They Might Be Giants)
*The proud is here to lead the way
*To save the day
*Haughty giant boasta

*He steals the scene from friend Toro
*He's smug, he's dead
*Haughty giant boasta

*As he proceeds to brag the place
*As he proceeds to gag the place
*As he proceeds to brag the place
*Gagger, bragger, gagger
*Haughty giant boasta

*He's a haughty giant boasta with a big ego
*And he's laying flat on the floor
*He's a haughty giant boasta with a big ego
*And he's laying flat on the floor

*And he makes a dash for the exit
*And he tries to free a town
*He's a haughty giant boasta with a big ego
*And he's laying flat on the floor

*And he steals the scene from our hero
*And our hero is used and abused
*He's a haughty giant boasta with a big ego
*And he's laying flat on the floor

*And he decides to kill and he gets killed
*And nobody knows when he was killed
*He's a haughty giant boasta with a big ego
*And he's laying flat on the floor

*It's a haughty giant guy
*Haughty gagger giant guy
*Haughty shameless giant boasta
*He's a haughty giant guy

*He's a dink
*Way to go
*I like him
*I got problems

This is my thirtieth TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. Count 'em. Thirty. The BIG 3-0. :bg: For some useless general trivia TMBG enlisted the help of The Band Of Dans for their latest album "Mink Car." And yes, they are all named Dan. This TMBGlorification is inspired by a BlueNinja nomination for a possible QFGlorification. :)

I still need some suggestions for "The Bells Are Ringing." I'm going to post this little notice on every QFGlorification until I can get some help. ;) The reason why I'm asking for help for this one, is because this is one of my favorite songs. :)
Your Katta Friends
("Your Racist Friend," They Might Be Giants)
*Is this where the party ends?
*I just love to stand here and listen to you
*And your katta friends
*I know the sultan rewards you
*But I feel so heroic saving you
*You and your katta friends

*It was the loveliest party that was ever assembled
*If anyone was not invited
*I'm sure it can be handled
*My head can't tolerate all this congratulations
*Listen to the people and the stories they are saying

*Is this where the party ends?
*I just sit here wondering how you
*First met your katta friends
*I know the sultan rewards you
*But I feel so heroic saving you
*You and your katta friends

*Is this where the party ends?
*I just love to stand here and listen to you
*And your katta friends
*I know the sultan rewards you
*But I feel so heroic saving you
*And your katta friends

*Out from the kitchen
*To the main room to the hallway
*Your friend does the cooking, she can serve it my way
*She let her dancing of her species be entertaining
*Can't kiss her lovely hand
*Since she is already married

*Is this where the party ends?
*I just love to stand here and listen to you
*And your katta friends
*I know the sultan rewards you
*But I feel so heroic saving you
*And your katta friends

This is my thirty-first TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. For some useless trivia, this is the very first song from their very first album. This song was also parodied before me by some unknown guy who goes under the name "Weird Al" Yankovic. :hrmph: It's called "Everything You Know Is Wrong," which can be heard on his album "Bad Hair Day." This TMBGlorification is inspired by a psychman6 suggestion. :)

The reason why I'm posting this one so close to my last one is because today's my birthday. The reason I'm not making a big deal out of it, is because I don't like a big deal out of something that tells you how much closer you are to death.

Oh, and any suggestions for "The Bells Are Ringing" would help me out a lot. :)
Every Single Rite Is To Be Won
("Everything Right Is Wrong Again," They Might Be Giants)
*Every single rite is to be won
*Just like in the short short demo
*All the statues got broken and the horse kept flying
*And nobody would try to ride him

*Wake me if it's over, close the gate
*Tell me now if I'm too late
*Don't you want to know the reason
*Why the king is sleeping
*Don't you get the feeling that

*Every single rite is to be won
*There's a weasel out there having fun
*Weasel came and gone but not before the damage done
*The healing cannot stop the sleeping

*Every single rite is to be won
*Just like in the short short demo
*All the statues got broken and the horse kept flying
*And nobody would try to ride him

*And now this game is over now
*And now this game is over now
*And now this game is over now
*This game is over now

*Every single rite is to be won
*Every movement false, another four is here again
*Every five competitors is here to win
*Tell me that you like the Hippocrene
*Draw your name in the book for how to swim
*You know everything that I will need to know
*You've heard the voice tells us what to do next that says that

*Every single rite is to be won
*There's a weasel out there having fun
*Weasel came and gone but not before the damage down
*The healing cannot stop the sleeping

*Every single rite is to be won
*Just like in the short short demo
*All the statues got broken and the horse kept flying
*And nobody would try to ride him

*And now this game is over now
*And now this game is over now

This is the thirty-second TMBGlorifying QFGlorification in my TMBG Saga. Heh, thirty seconds. This song is longer than thirty seconds. :bg: Anyway, for some useless trivia MDC is the abbreviation of a west coast hardcore band called Millions of Dead Cops. Well, at least it's not hard to see MDC's view on police.
Hero Seeking Want Ad
("Rhythm Section Want Ad," They Might Be Giants)
*In a world we call our home there's lots of lands to roam
*Plenty of time to turn curses to rhyme
*There's a place for those who love to win
*It's just across from the sign that says, "Hero's Tale Inn"

*So if you like a man that's been to Shapeir,
*Say your guild has a wall with trophies
*If you join the thieves' guild, or EOF we salute you in your field
*For every one with new spells burned in their minds
*There must be hundreds who look at you as if you're some kind of
*Hero seeking want ad
*Only one may need apply to the hero seeking want ad
*I'll tell you why

*Swords raised to each new field of adventure
*Swords raised to the use of spears as pull levers
*Tread softly, smoke a bong of crank
*Fight hard, it's a long way to the bank

*Do you dance like harem women on purpose
*You guys must be racing for the rulership
*For every one with new spells burned in their minds
*There must be hundreds who look at you as if you're some kind of
*Hero seeking want ad
*Only one may need apply to the hero seeking want ad
*And here's the reason why

*Swords raised to each new field of adventure
*Swords raised to the use of spears as pull levers
*Tread softly, fly a big balloon
*Fight hard, it's a long way to your room

*Do you dance like harem women on purpose
*You guys must be racing for the rulership
*For every one with new spells burned in their minds
*There must be hundreds who look at you as if you're some kind of

This should be my thirty-third TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. True, this song is mainly chorus, but it's still a TMBG song. For some useless trivia, do to a fear of legal trouble, "Nyquil Driver" was changed to "AKA Driver" and they also excluded the lyrics on the album's linear notes, which made it hard to make a parody with, so you better appreciate all the trouble I went through just for you people. ;)

I already got a couple of suggestions for "The Bells Are Ringing" but more is always better than less, when it comes to suggestions anyway. ;) I guess I'm kindof like the Muse, Serendipity, in Dogma, I have a million ideas for songs for other people, but when it comes to creating a song for me, I get writer's block.
Carpet Flyer
("AKA Driver," They Might Be Giants)
*It's just one whole game away
*It's just one whole game away
*It's just one whole game away
*It's just one whole game away

*We will fly like birds in the air
*We could walk but we'd never get there

*It's just one whole game away
*It's just one whole game away
*It's just one whole game away
*It's just one whole game away

*The load is a group of three
*Not including me
*Hey carpet flyer
*It's carpet flying time
*Hey caret flyer
*Look at that ship fly
*When we go high

*It's just one whole game away
*It's just one whole game away
*It's just one whole game away
*It's just one whole game away

*The load is a group of three
*Not including me
*Hey carpet flyer
*It's carpet flying time
*Hey caret flyer
*Look at that ship fly
*When we go high

Here's my thirty-fourth TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. Boy, I just realized I QFGlorify Erana a lot. Anyway, for some useless trivia "Hovering Sombrero" was written thirteen years ago when TMBG was still working on the Flood LP. Thanks to Split Personality for helping out with some suggestions for this song. :)

Just a quick reminder: If anybody has a TMBG song they want to see parodied, please tell me. This way, you can be acknowledged too. ;) Suggestions along with the song are almost guaranteed to be QFGlorified. :)

Oh, and I might not be posting as much for awhile. I'm starting to get a case of pre-learning syndrome. It's where you get all tense and stressed right before school starts.
Hovering Erana
("Hovering Sombrero," They Might Be Giants)
*Hey, hovering Erana
*Gently waving to me in the meadow
*Softly floating in the sky next to the mushroom

*Hovering Erana, please be mine
*Please - Please be mine
*I'll be there on time

*Don't you take yourself for granted
*Or reject yourself from everyone
*Know you're never just an elf
*You're never only just an elf you know
*Hovering Erana, Hovering Erana

*Time is endless when in Hades
*So I rescued you from the black abyss, my fair lady
*And so the pages of FA's books talk about peace treaties for here and there

*Till a hundred years are almost all gone
*And the old familiar things will last throughout dawn
*But dear old Erana just keeps hovering on Hovering Erana hover on

*Don't be burdened by regrets
*Or make past failures an obsession
*Or become embittered or possessed
*By ruined hopes remember

*When you take yourself for granted
*And reject yourself from everyone
*Know you're never just an elf
*You're never only just an elf you know
*Hovering Erana, Hovering Erana

This is my thirty-fifth TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. Be nice to me, because I had to do this TMBGlorification with no linear notes. ;) For some useless general trivia, on the Factory Showroom album, there's a hidden track that is found in a number 0 track that is automatically skipped over by CD players, but holds enough information for a full song, and it is also where the CD-rom information is held.
Till Their Heads Fall Off
("Till My Head Falls Off," They Might Be Giants)
*There were eighty-seven health pills but now there's thirty left
*I ate forty-seven so what happened to the other ten
*Why are you insisting on me to save
*And steal my bow inside of the cave
*As I took the bottle out and counted the pills up again

*Don't interrupt me as I struggle to defeat this thing
*Have some respect for others less chauvinist then yourself
*And I'm not done
*And I won't be till their heads fall off

*Searching every pocket of the now fallen Hydra mass
*And I'm giving teeth away
*But I wonder if this is a rite that I should pass
*Clearing my throat and gripping the teeth
*Now smile and face my competitor clearing her throat
*And smiling with her hands held out I think

*And when I sleep in my bedroom after I took such a fall
*I hear stuff through the door that I don't recognize at all
*And I'm not done
*And I won't be till their heads fall off
*Though it may still be a long way off

*I'm not done fighting
*I'm not done fighting

*And when I sleep in my bedroom after I took such a fall
*I see the broken statues silhouetting on the wall
*And I'm not done
*And I won't be till their heads fall off
*Though it may still be a long way off
*I won't be done till their heads fall off

I believe that this is my thirty-sixth TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. This is again, one of my shorter songs, but this is one of my personal favorites, not the parody, but the actual song. :) But the parody's okay, too. ;) It only looks long because it's so divided. For a small useless trivia, the end of the song is just the drum track and the vocals reversed.
An Easter Egg
("Subliminal," They Might Be Giants)
*As I climbed out of the guild there was a message for me
*As I walked out the magic store, I noticed something

*An easter egg

*In a noticeable way
*Unimportant
*But fun to see

*An easter egg
*An easter egg

*While walking way from my fire there was a message for me
*As I starved in the savannah, I noticed something

*An easter egg
*An easter egg

*In a noticeable way
*Unimportant
*But fun to see

*An easter egg
*An easter egg
*An easter egg

*Find those easter eggs and as much as you can
*An easter egg

Here is my thirty-seventh TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. For another issue of useless general trivia, a They Might Be Giants Documentary will be released sometime this year in DVD format entitled "Gigantic: A Tale of Two Johns." Kinda sounds like a movie about a couple of toilets' adventures. ;) Anyway, the trailer is available to view now at www.giganticfilm.com.

:) :wavey: :ltdance: This is going to be the Year of the Giants, my friends. :) :wavey: :ltdance:
I Should Be Allowed To Steal
("I Should Be Allowed To Think," They Might Be Giants)
*I saw the best thieves of my generation
*Destroyed by traitors, soldiers, hysteria
*I should be allowed to fence my items
*I should be allowed to steal

*I should be allowed to fence my items
*I should be allowed to steal
*I should be allowed to steal
*I should be allowed to steal
*And I should be allowed to sneak into houses
*If by random luck, the door's not barred inside
*If necessary, leave the scene without dropping anything behind

*I saw the worst guilds of my generation
*Hidden from view behind another wall
*I should be allowed to rip people off
*I should have the blackbird by now

*I should be allowed to fence my items
*I should be allowed to steal
*I should be allowed to steal
*I should be allowed to steal
*And I should be allowed to sneak into houses
*If by random luck, the door's not barred inside
*If necessary, leave the scene without dropping anything behind

*I am not allowed
*To ever steal from a single thief brethren
*I am not allowed
*To speak with criminal chief thief leader who oppresses me

*I was worst hope of my generation
*Destroyed by traitors, soldiers, hysteria
*I should be allowed to share my winnings
*I should be allowed to win
*I should be allowed to fence my items
*I should be allowed to steal

This is my thirty-eighth TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. Just like a few of my others, this song also had to be done without linear notes, so be grateful I'm so patient. :) For some useless general trivia, both John and John own Macintoshes both at home and on the road. Like I've always said, the best people use a Mac. :bg: Maybe not to you people, but I've said it. ;)
How Can I Dance Like A Girl?
("How Can I Sing Like A Girl?," They Might Be Giants)
*Gnomes are saying to dance alone
*Because the inn's been painted now
*And all those years of dancing taught me
*Is how to style but not forgot

*How can I dance like a girl
*And not be stigmatized, by the rest of the world?
*Tell me how can I dance like a girl
*And not be objectified, as if I were a girl?

*I want to raise my balloon
*Higher and higher and
*I want to raise my balloon
*And never be alone. Never be alone

*From the thieves' guild I've been spotted
*Fingers pointing at my belt
*Ferrari turns and barters with me
*And I begrudgingly accept

*How can I dance like a girl
*And not be stigmatized, by the rest of the world?
*Tell me how can I dance like a girl
*And not be objectified, as if I were a girl?

*I want to raise my balloon
*Higher and higher and
*I want to raise my balloon
*And never be alone. Never be alone

*How can I dance like a girl

This is my thirty-ninth TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. I know you don't actually "pull up" on the lever, but as long as you get the point I'm trying to make. ;) For some useless general trivia, the kids in the "John Henry" photographs, half of them are friend's kids, and the rest are professional model kids that were hired for the shoot.
Gondola
("Thermostat," They Might Be Giants)
*When hands that operate the motor break off the lever
*When the mind of the hero puts two and two together
*When it's indicated that you're out of luck should you continue trying anyway?
*There's the gondola that's operated by the windmill
*That should be real reliable
*That shouldn't be disassembled

*Pull it back, pull it up
*Pull it back when your ride gets to the front
*When you're all ready to go pull it up
*Pull it back, pull it up

*As I was still trying
*As I was still trying
*As I was just playing with it a minute ago

*I was just floating and was decapitated
*Or was it my imagination
*Or is the gondola moving now
*Because I cast a spell?

*Pull it back, pull it up
*Pull it back when your ride gets to the front
*When you're all ready to go pull it up
*Pull it back, pull it up

*As I was still trying
*As I was still trying
*As I was still trying

*Pull it back, pull it up
*Pull it back when your ride gets to the front
*When you're all ready to go pull it up
*Pull it back, pull it up

I think this is my fortieth TMBGlorifying QFGlorification, the Big 4-0. Heh, I almost couldn't spell fortieth for a second there. ;) Anyway, I was debating whether to make this one about Arestes, Katrina, or Erana. I obviously chose Erana. She seems to be the easiest to QFGlorify. For another issue of useless general trivia, I mentioned that TMBG have a Dial-A-Song at 718-387-6962, but they also have a Dial-A-Song website at www.dialasong.com, where you can also listen to music for free, but this way therer's no chance of getting a busy signal. :)
Out Of Hades
("Out Of Jail," They Might Be Giants)
*Long before the series began, she was thought as missing
*A stranger could have loved her then, but she had to leave
*I wish I had gotten to know her, before I fell in love
*I could say who's to blame, say who's the one from the two lovely ladies
*But I swore at the pool and I'll swear and I'll swear til Erana's out of Hades

*It was like a magic show, the way she disappeared
*Easy now to mystify. Easy now to love
*I think my luck is changing
*I hope that I'm not wrong

*I could say who's to blame, say who's the one from the two lovely ladies
*But I swore at the pool and I'll swear and I'll swear til Erana's out of Hades

*Didn't want to leave her there
*Just turned out my way
*I wish I'd gotten to know her, before I fell in love
*I could say she's my love, say she's the one of the two lovely ladies
*But I swore tat the pool and I'll swear and I'll swear til Erana's out of Hades

My forty-first TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. It's been a long, exhausting road. And it's far from over I might add. ;) Now, as for this song, there are many, many ways I could have written this. I sort of combined the end of Dragon Fire with the end of the series with the real life people. So it might get a little confusing. I could have written this as a song for the forum, but I didn't. So if somebody wants to write it like that, they're more then welcome to do so. :) For a short useless general trivia, since my rambling went on a little long, some of TMBG's favorite TV shows are Simpsons, car wreck shows, Judge Judy, Washington Week In Review, and Antique Roadshow. I'm partial to Simpsons and a bit of Antique Roadshow, myself. ;)
The End Of The Game
("The End Of The Tour," They Might Be Giants)
*There's a guy with a crown and a scepter
*Who's king of Silmaria
*And he says that the journey's been loads of fun
*Now he's thinking of going home

*That it's old and it's totally over now
*And it's old and it's over it's over now
*And it's over and it's over and it's over now
*I can see the king

*At the end of the game
*When the creators disappear
*If there's any more people around when the game goes aground
*And if you're still around
*Then we'll meet at the end of the game
*The ceremonies are booked through the end of the world
*So we'll meet at the of the game

*Never to part since the day we met out alone inside Spielburg
*I was a newbie you were a novice hero when we started our journeys past
*I was sailing along with other series driving themselves to hysteria inside me
*Then came sign from a game
*Which was odd
*And the picture abruptly changed

*At the end of the game
*When the creators disappear
*If there's any more people around when the game goes aground
*And if you're still around
*Then we'll meet at the end of the game
*The ceremonies are booked through the end of the world
*So we'll meet at the of the game

*This was the series these were the people
*You fought your way through and expelled all the people
*This was the series these were the people
*You fought your way through and expelled all the people
*This was the series these were the people
*You befriended them

*At the end of the game
*When the creators disappear
*If there's any more people around when the game goes aground
*And if you're still around then we'll meet at the end of the game
*The ceremonies are booked through the end of the world
*So we'll meet at the of the game and it'll never be released again
*No, it'll never be released again

This is good ol' number 42. The forty-second TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. Now, what kind of guy would I be, if I didn't QFGlorify number 42 on my forty-second TMBGlorification? ;) Too bad it's a short song. :/ Now, obviously the amount of these numbers to their items is incorrect, but there wasn't too much 42 to go around in the game. Too bad neither the swamp error or the slimy pathway wasn't called Error 42. Oh well. For another small useless trivia, a very small, pathetically insignificant useless trivia, TMBG thought up the aborted count at the end of the song during the wee hours of the night.
42 Errors
("32 Footsteps," They Might Be Giants)
*42 errors leading to the death where the game doesn't want to go
*42 errors running in your face when your game isn't that slow
*42 daggers in my infinitely deep toolbelt
*42 new puns said by 42 guys

*What's the question, who will know?
*Where's Doug Adams, why'd he go?
*42 errors, counted them myself, 42 errors

*What's the question, who will know?
*Where's Doug Adams, why'd he go?
*42 errors, counted them myself, 42 errors

*42 days I walked all around when I finally said okay
*42 questions came my way when the gargoyle said no way
*42 Easter eggs are spotted during the quest
*42 hours, is the amount I needed to rest

*What's the question, why'd he leave?
*Don't you know that I am peeved
*42 errors? Counted them myself, 42 errors

*No, 38, no, 39, no, 40, 41

This is my forty-third TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. This is also one of my personal favorite songs. This is also the song I had a hell of a time trying to parody. :/ So thanks to psychman6 for mentioning the bells in the WIT pre-test. Also thanks to Split Personality and Maghrabi for the other suggestion which I didn't use, but I had such a hell of a time thinking up stuff that I'm happy I got any suggestions. :)

The reason why I didn't use the "Hell" suggestion is because I don't think Hell is Hades. Hell and Hades can be two different things. Some religions have Hell, some have Hades, some have both because they're one in the same, some have both but they're completely different from each other, and some don't even have a Hell or Hades. Anyway, so that's why I didn't use it. For a very short general useless trivia, since I rambled on way too long again, TMBG's favorite hocky team is the Bruins.
The Bell Is Ringing
("The Bells Are Ringing," They Might Be Giants)
*Bom Bom Bom Bom
*Bom Bom Bom Bom
*Bom Bom Bom Bom

*The bell is ringing
*The song he's singing
*The door is on the corner 'round
*He heard their instructions
*He detected directions
*He traveled great distances on the ground

*The bell is ringing
*The song he's singing
*The door is on the corner 'round
*He heard their instructions
*He detected directions
*He traveled great distances on the ground

*He is congratulated when he triggered that one bell
*He is responsible for what he has to do
*The wizards know just where to go
*The bell is ringing all through the town

*All through the town
*All through the town
*All through the town
*All through the town
*All through the town
*All through the town
*All through the town

*The bell is ringing
*And everyone's waiting for someone they can sponsor really fast
*Forgetting they're watching him
*Advance from the childlike behavior of a whimsical old man
*Four voices are telling him to act a different way
*He turns his head 'till he ignores what they will say
*But when WIT's so
*Erasmus must know

*The bell is ringing all through the town
*The bell is ringing
*The song he's singing
*The door is on the corner 'round
*He heard their instructions
*He detected directions
*He traveled great distances on the ground

*He is congratulated when he triggered that one bell
*He is responsible for what he has to do
*The wizards know just where to go
*The bell is ringing all through the town

*A test that eliminates all fear
*Is started from the bell's effect
*As if by telepathic signal
*The wizards turn to face him
*One thousand eyes are staring
*They strand him on an endless walkway

*The bell is flying and it's firing
*And simple key to wizardry
*It isn't new, it isn't good
*It's only what the wizards wish
*The bell explains what he's been lacking all along
*He was without reversal and that was what was wrong
*And now he knows
*What life forbodes

My forty-fourth TMBGlorifying QFGlorification which is yet another short song, but a TMBG song nonetheless. For some more useless general trivia, the album Apollo 18 was titled after the Apollo moon missions which ended at Apollo 17. As if you people didn't know. ;) And if you really didn't know, then you need to brush up on your history. :)
If I Was A Guy
("If I Wasn't Shy," They Might Be Giants)
*If I was a guy
*If I was a guy

*I'd burn everyone in the dust
*I'd dethrone my brother Barnard
*I'd burn all the headless stumps
*I'd kill the Hydra by myself

*If I was a guy
*If I was a guy

*I'd steal the blackbird just like that
*I'd steal anything I lack
*I'd steal all kinds of things
*From all the stands in Silmaria

*If I was a guy

*To blow up everything for a hundred miles

Here's my forty-fifth TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. Boy, that's a big number when it comes to QFGlorifications, not as big as some others, but big nonetheless. For some useless general trivia, a box set anthology of twenty years of They Might Be Giants will be released some time this year. Thanks to psychman6 for suggesting this as a possible TMBGlorification. :)

A miracle is born! :wow: :ltdance: :wavey: They Might Be Giants have won the Grammy for Best Song Written For A Motion Picture, Television, Or Other Visual Media! :wavey: :ltdance: :wow:
They beat out A Love Before Time from "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon," My Funny Friend and Me from "The Emperor's New Groove," There You'll Be from "Pearl Harbor," and Win from "Men of Honor" with their Grammy winning song "Boss of Me" from "Malcolm in the Middle."
The Statues Broke Near By
("The Statue Got Me High," They Might Be Giants)
*The statues broke near by
*The statues broke near by
*A monument of cold stone was shattered by some guy
*The statues made me cry
*The statues made me cry
*It freed a dragon it woke up and it soared into the sky

*The stone it called to me
*(And now I see the danger the stone has warned to me)
*A rock that broke apart
*(A now this fight is harder then the one inside the heart)

*And though I still prefer a human being's company
*They fight before the big dragon that towers over me

*The statues broke near by
*The statues broke near by
*The truth is where the splattered blood one which the stone will lie
*The statues made me high
*The statues made me high
*That cloaked strange man is standing like this one other really evil guy

*The stone it called to me
*(And now I see the danger the stone has warned to me)
*A rock that broke apart
*(A now this fight is harder then the one inside the heart)

*And as the screaming dying soldier woke up the weary
*The evidence is noticed by the hippie run apothecary
*And what they found was linked to statues
*Lying where the statues broke near by
*And what they found was linked to statues
*Lying where the statues broke near by

*And how do I return
*(Return the statues upright before we all get burned)
*The stone it calls to you
*(You must refuse to sacrifice the one you didn't choose)

*And as the screaming dying soldier woke up the weary
*The evidence is noticed by the hippie run apothecary
*And what they found was linked to statues
*Lying where the statues broke near by
*And what they'll find is linked to statues

This is my forty-sixth TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. I think. I haven't parodied anything from the Long Tall Weekend album for a long time because I forgot about that CD, and this is one of my favorite songs from that CD. The references are really mixed up, so it might not make sense in some areas. For another issue of useless general trivia, John Linnell likes his coffee black with sugar and John Flansburgh likes his coffee light with no sugar. Can you tell I'm starting to run out of useless general trivia?

Also, any more suggestions for a TMBGlorification would help me out a lot, I've been getting really behind in creating them lately.
Certain People I Could Blame
("Certain People I Could Name," They Might Be Giants)
*The few surviving caravan survey the desert field
*Count the arms, the legs, the heads and then divide by five
*Drenched in blood, he climbs the fallen pile
*Do I need to point or do you see the one I mean

*The one in black, the way he acts
*Is he reminding you of anyone we know
*Isn't he so like certain people I could blame

*Halfway through the balloon ride, halfway 'round the land
*Here's the story of an undead overlord
*In the castle with her apprentice
*Watch her little gestures as she geases our hero

*Look at her you must see it too
*Is she reminding you of what she used to be
*Isn't she so like certain people I could blame

*Decapitated and detached a head controls demons
*As some lizard jerky helps while we continue on our quest
*Music scores help when we take a rest
*Eyes glaze over as we watch some royalty undress

*Who is it like, doesn't it strike you
*As the very image of someone we want to know
*Isn't it so like certain people
*How could anybody miss the obvious
*And the uncanny and the clear remembrance
*Isn't it just like certain people I could blame

Here's my forty-seventh TMBGlorifying QFGlorification. I would have parodied this song sooner, but I had one hell of a time trying to come up with a decent QFGlorification that I thought would be suitable enough for audiences of your caliber and had a nice, smooth flow with the title name that was nine syllables long, with the possibility to give or take a syllable. So, hopefully I did this song justice.

I'm thinking of redoing it for the Marete/Mariana change, so just giving some heads up if you see this song pop up again sometime in the future. For some useless general trivia, this is the other song of the two TMBG songs that were featured in the hit cartoon television show "Tiny Toon Adventures." The other song was "Particle Man."
EGA Now Is In VGA
["Istanbul (Not Constantinople)," They Might Be Giants]
*EGA now is in VGA
*First came EGA, then came in VGA
*Been a long time gone, re-released VGA
*Now it's two fifty-six colors and point-and-click cursor

*Every guy that's found in the VGA
*Came from EGA, then transferred to VGA
*But if you want gold, it's not in VGA
*It'll be waiting in EGA

*Even the island of Marete
*Was once Mariana
*Why'd the change it I can't say
*Probably legal reasons got in the way

*So let me play the version of VGA
*No, you cannot play the version of VGA
*Has some memory problems, new version VGA
*Why can't I get the VGA to work?
*That's nobody's business anymore

*EGA EGA
*EGA EGA

*Even the island of Marete
*Was once Mariana
*Why'd the change it I can't say
*Probably legal reasons got in the way

*EGA now is in VGA
*First came EGA, then came in VGA
*Why can't I get the VGA to work?
*That's nobody's business anymore

*So let me play the version of VGA
*No, you cannot play the version of VGA
*Has some memory problems, new version VGA
*Why can't I get the VGA to work?
*That's nobody's business anymore

*EGA
