In the above
drawing, is a CAD image of the cross section of a garage slab. With these
measurements and the information given, an architect could easily construct the
drawing. CAD, Computer Aided Design, allows architects to design buildings and
other objects quickly and easily. By using this program, a lot of time and labor
is saved, because the user has access to many tools which will aid in
constructing their drawing. Any architect would gladly use this software when
designing objects since
it is easy to use, and the software has so many beneficial tools.
Common CAD Concepts
Grids:
 In the 2D CAD software, the grid allows
the designer to align the objects they are drawing, as
if using graph paper. The grid setting may be changed at the user's discretion,
and it may also be turned off if they wish.
Snaps: 
If the user turns on the snap tool, the curser will now only move between the
grid points you have set, not allowing them to place objects in between the grid
spaces, unless the grid space interval is changed.
Ortho: 
The ortho tool, when turned on, only allows the designer to draw lines
perpendicularly to each other, not diagonally. If turned off, slanted lines may
be drawn.
Relative Coordinates:
 When the first point of
a line is specified, the relative coordinates are now set to 0, 0 and the second
point can be chosen in relation to this point.
Zoom: 
The button on the left, the zoom box, allows the user to zoom in on a portion of
the drawing they enclose in a box. The tool on the right, zoom percent, allows
them to zoom in or out of the whole drawing by a certain percent that they
specify.

drawings which can aid in construction.

make sketches quickly and easily. No experience is needed to use this software,
because it is very easy to use.
AutoCADLT: AutoCADLT 2000 is a program you can buy for $559.00. This program
is a professional drawing package which is easy to use, and is great for precise
drawings.
AutoCAD: AutoCAD 2000 is a great package for computer design which offers
over 400 more tools than AutoCAD 14.
