Melanie, George & Kenny

Well, last Saturday was the Southern California George Michael Fan Meeting and I drove down from the Bay Area to meet some real live George Fans. I had a great time, met some wonderful people, including George! Allow me to tell you what happened.

Well, I finally got to meet George. It was unbelievable. What I've written below is not exactly what was said but it's very close. I wasn't taking notes and I didn't have a tape recorder. He looked fantastic. In black, of course. He was wearing a hat so I couldn't see his hair. He was happy and friendly and well, wonderful. He asked that we not say where we met him. He doesn't want people flocking to all his favorite places, go figure. I promised him I wouldn't. How could I break a promise to George? So, please don't ask.

Me: Hi! How are you this evening?
Him: (I was sooo scared I don't remember what he said)
Me to Kenny: Did you ask him the question? (earlier I'd seen Kenny and asked him to ask George a question)
Kenny: No, not yet
Me to George: May I ask you a question?
Him: Sure
Me: The Rolling Stone cover you did after Faith was released, remember?
Him: Yes
Me: Well, in the interview you mentioned a dream you'd had the night before and in it was an actress but you didn't want to say who she was, cause you might meet her someday. Who did you dream about?
Him: I honestly don't remember (smile)
Me: Oh, 11 years I've been dying to know and you can't remember. May I ask another question?
Him: Sure (still smiling)
Me: That's Kenny right?
Him: Yes (little laugh)
Me: boyfriend or bodygurard?
Him: (laughing) boyfriend. I wouldn't have a body guard that attractive
Me: Yeah, he does have great legs. (pause) Oh, Did you see Dan on Leno?
Him: Yeah. Is he here?
Me: Yes, just over there.
Him: Yeah I saw it (laughing)
Me: Ummm, what brand of cigarettes do you smoke?
Him: Marlboro Lights but I'm trying to quit
Me: What's the name of your other dog?
Him: Huggy
Me: Oh how sweet!

Then he signed my CD, when I told him my name was Melanie he said "My sister's name is Melanie" I said, "I know, she got an autograph from you for me at one of the Faith concerts".

Then he signed something for someone else and then I introduced him to everyone there. He talked to Dan a bit about the Leno thing. He was worried that Leno was going to pretend Dan was really George. He asked Dan about the pictures on the web site. (He's been to Dan's site!!). I asked him if he'd been on ichat and he said yes, under different names. I asked him if he'd schedule a time to be on ichat so people could talk to him and he said yes. Someone else asked him if he had been on IRC and he said no.

Then Kenny took a picture of him with all of us. He (George) was smiling and laughing. I asked him if he was tickelish and he said no.

And that's what happened.
