• Like RED & BLUE Version, you are able to choose one pokemon of three pokemons: fire type, water type, and grass type. There is a big house in your home town, and it's where you can get your pokemon. In the house, Professor Oak is not in there, it's his friend, Professor Elm. You may see a boy in red who is stand at right of the house. He will be you opponent (like Gray in R&B version).
• Your home town isn't Pallet town this time, it is called New Park Town. After you have chosen your pokemon, go to the next town, Cherrygrove City. There is a old man standing at the "opening" of the town. You need to talk with him, he is gonna to show you around, and give you a map card, and then you can use the gear to see the map. There is a pokemon shop, but there is no pokeball that you can buy. You now should go up to Mr. Pokemon's house. Prof. Oak is there, and you will get a pokedesk, and an egg which you will deliver to Prof. Elm. When you walk out of the house, there is phone call from Professor Elm. He will tell you the red boy had stolen one of the pokemon, and he wishes you can come back as quickly as possible. On your way back, you will meet the boy, and you guys will have a battle. After battle, he will go away, and you still have to go back. Back to town, give the egg to Prof. Elm; and when you walk out, his assistant will you give you five pokeballs.
• When you walk out your hometown this time, there is a guy will teach you how to catch pokemon.

Tips:

• You will meet a new pokemon, which is called Otach, a brown mouse like pokemon. If you like to train this pokemon, you better catch one, because it's the one of two places you can find it.
• You may consider to catch a Pigey, and train it to level 9. Pigey can learn gust at level 9, and it can be a powerful attack at that time.
• If you like butterfree, you may consider to catch a Caterpie. It will evolve to Metopad at level 6, and it will evolve to Betterfree at level 10; at the same it will learn confusion. It will not learn confusion later if you don't let evolve at 10L.

• Finally, in Violet City, you can buy some pokeballs. You might catch a bellspourt (at level 3). And there is bellspourt temple, you will battle will with the people inside, and almost all of their pokemon are bellspourt. You will see the red guy, but you guys will not have battle. Your goal know is to fight the man the red guy was fighting. After you win, that man will give you HM-05, which is flash.(Do teach your pokemon flash now, because you don't need now.)
• The first gym you have to battle is in this town, it is just called the Violet City Gym. The badge's name is Zwphyrbadge. In this gym, all the trainers have flying type pokemons. The leader's name is Falkner, and he has 2 Pigeys and 1 Pigeyotto. After you win, he will give you the Badge, and give you a TM 31, which contain mud-slap. This attack is like sand attack, but it also lows the HP.
• When you walk out of the gym, you will get a phone call from Prof. Elm. He send some one to give the egg to you. Then you go to the pokemon center, and there will be a glass guy, talk to him, and he will give you the egg. (you may just hold 5 pokemons, and you can't go on without the egg).
• There is a cave with a computer, you have to solve the puzzle. After you solve it, you will drop to another place, where you can catch a new ghost pokemon, it's called annon.

• Go through the cave, you are in the forth town, Azalea Town. You will go into another cave when you go into the town, but there is guy stand at the entrance. Go into the town, and do not fight the gym yet. Go straight, and there is a house you must enter. Talk to the man, Kurt. Kurt is famous in making pokeballs. He will tell you that the team rocket were cuting slowpokes' tails. After talking, he will walk away. Now you can go to that cave, and there is no one standing there. Go into the cave, and you will see that man again. Now you should fight with other Team Rocket guys in that cave. When you fight all of them, they will disappear. You save the Slowpoke from Team Rocket.
• Go back to the man's house, and talk to him, he will make pokeballs for you if you have APRICORN to give him.
• You can go to the Gym. This is Azalea town gym. The gym leader's name is Bugsy. Her toughest pokemon is Scyther. But if you have a Piegy, you may have no problem to win. After that she will give you the HiverBadge and TM 49, which is Fury Cutter. This attack is like rage in cut. And you can use cut now!
• After you defeat this gym, go back to pokemon center, and heal your pokemon. Then you can go ahead. You will fight with the red boy again when you try to leave. This battle may be a little tough.
• After you defeat him, you can go ahead in to the woods. In there you can see a buy and a bird. You should make the bird back to the guy. And then there will be another man appearing. Talk to that man, he will give you the HM OF CUT, for thanking you make the bird back to him.
• Now cut the small tree and go on. You will see the another guy in Green, talk to him, he will give you the TM OF SLAM, slam allow you to shake the small tries. You can shake the tree, and there may be pokemon there. Exeggucute may be found by that, and you might also find a new pokemon. They are all at level 10.

What a big town!

• Round 29 is not pretty long, and you will be in Goldenrod City soon. This is big town, there is a radio station, a train station, and a big pokemon shop AND MORE.
• Go to the radio station, talk to the third girl at the counter. She will ask you a few questions, you answers should be: YES, YES, YES, NO, YES, NO. Now, select gear at your list, there will be a radio icon on there.
• Go to the underground path, there is a man can make your pokemon happy, you may try that. You will fight a few trainers there. The important thing you should pick up the coin case. There is a casino just up to the pokemon center. Like red and blue version, you can get pokemon and TM by using the coins.
• Of course there is a gym here. This is a normal type pokemon gym. They use Sentret, Gigglypuff and Clefairy. The Gym leader is called Whitney, she uses a Clefairy and a new sheep like pokemon, called Miltank. Clefairy may not be tough, but Miltank is tough. It can use rollout (like rage in Red and Blue), and attracking. After defeating her, she started to cry, and not give you the badge. You just walk down a bit, and the girl down there will tell you to go back. Now go back and talk to her, she will give you the PlainBadge, also she will give you the TM 45, Atrack.
• After you win, go to the flower store next to the gym. Talk to the red girl, she will give you SQ. water. You will need it soon.
• There is a bike shop, but you have to go around. Talk to the man, he will give you one for free.
• In the big shop, you can buy a lot of thing. The best ones I think is the three punches: fire p., thunder p., and ice p.. They will cost you $3000 dollars for each; and there is also slam for $2000, and rock break for $1000. Rock break allow your pokemon to break some rocks. You do not need to buy one, because someone will give you later.
• And go one to round 29. There is place that allows you to catch pokemon like some zone. (I guess) You will find a new grass type pokemon in there at day time. Now go on.
• You will see a yellow tree, and when you press A at that, cut won't work. This is a pokemon, not a tree. It's a tree like pokemon, you may think to catch this, but it is a little tough to catch this one. It may be a ground type pokemon, but it can learn ice punch. I do not the what the real type that this pokemon is, but it will be a good pokemon to train. It's at level 20. After you defeat this pokemon, go to your right first, talk to a fat man, he will give a TM of rock break. Now go left.

Legends and the FogBadge:

The next town is a ghost town, called Ecruteak City . You enter the pokemon center, and you will meet Bill, He will talk to you about changing pokemon. Then he will go away. You now can go to his house at the Goldenrod City, and he will give you an eevee.

• You have to go to the house above pokemon center. It's kind like a little theater. On the stage, there are some women in kimono. You have to defeat all of them. What they have is the 5 evolution of eevee. Eevee has two new evolutions: 1. Espeon (psychic), 2. umbreon (dark). After you fight all of them, talk to the guy down there, he will give the HM of Surf.
• Then go to the temple at northwest. The red boy is there, and you guys will have a fight. Now there are some special looking rocks, you can break them with TM 08 rock break. You can jump into the black. At last, you need to jump to the center, and you go up to the pokemons. Then they become alive, and run away. These are the three legendary dogs. In this temple, you can find koffing, but if you can spend some time to walk around, you can find Magmar at level around 11.

Now you may go to the gym. All they have is ghost pokemons. In gold and silver version, ghost pokemons do not like psychic powers, so you can use some psychic pokemon to win. To get to the gym leader is tricky. This gym leader, Morty, has a Gengar, which is his most powerful pokemon. But it will be ok if you have a psychic pokemon or a fire pokemon. He will give you the TM 30, Shadow ball. And you can surf now.
