I
have to apologize for my bad remembering for name, some pokemons' name may
not spell right. Sorry about that!

Graphic | 10/10 It actually is better than Gold, because some of the pokemons pictures are looking better. |
8.5 / 10 I was impressed by the graphic. Compare to a lot of GB games, it's has the best graphic. But just a few characters don't look good. |
|
Sound | 10 / 10 They made more music in these two versions, and they are so good. I like the music, which is played when you are in the casino |

Game Contents | 8.5 / 10 A lot of great stuffs in this game: You have a phone, and a gear, which display map and time together, you even get a radio. But the evolution stones can't be broght in stores, and some TM's are really difficult to get. |

4.5/5 It's a quite difficult RPG game. (see below for more info.) |
What's Not Good:
If you had played Red or Blue version, you'll know the graphic had developed
to a greater level. Compare to Red and Blue version, Gold and Silver were more
difficult to play, here's why:
1. You get much less points fighting a wild pokemon than fighting a trainer's
pokemon.
2. Some trainer has 6 or 5 pokemons, their pokmon are probably the same,
and they are weak. The pokemons can't gain many points from keeping fighting
them.
(Ex.: some Team Pocket, they may have 5 rattatas around level 20. But I rather
fight 2 rattacates)
3. Some pokemons are difficult to defeat even using their worst enemy. (like
water vs. fire)
4. You can't not buy evolution stores from stores.
5. Some of the attacks and TM's are usless.
6. Some attacks our pokemon can't learn, but others can.
(Ex.: Our electric pokemon can't learn thunderbolt, but other trainers' electric
pokemons can)
7. Three legend birds are missing. And about the three legend dogs, we have
to have some luck to meet them.
If you have any request of information on any pokemon, just post it on the message board.
Team Up: From my experience, you need to have one flying type pokemon, one fire type pokemon, one water type, one electric type, one psychic type, one grass type. Adding them up, you need to have 7 pokemons. But some pokemon have two roles. Like Gold Duck, it's a water type pokemon, also a psychic type. Trainning in these two versions are difficult, so you better just train 5 pokemons. (From my experience, the water group is the best!)

If you choose the fire type pokemon (Cyndaquil), from Elm,
then you can catch these pokemons: 1. Pigey - flying type 2. Bellsprourt - grass type 3. Meerip (a sheep like pokemon) - the electric type 4. Psyduck - water & psychic type |

If you choose the water type pokemon (totodile), then you
can catch these pokemons: 1. Pigey - flying type 2. Bellsprourt - grass type 3. Meerip - the electric type 4. Drowzee - phychic type |

If you choose the grass type pokemon (chikoria), then you can catch
these pokemons: 1. Pigey 2. Meerip 3. Psyduck 4. Growsly - fire type (It's a little hard to train from the time you catch it.) |
Other Choices:
Flying type: 1. Hooth, only can be caught at night, also using psychic attacks.
2. Butterfree, flying, poison and psychic al-together, but it just don't have
good defence.
Water (ice) type: Laparas, only can be catch on friday. Is's at level 20, when
capture it.
Fire Type: Magmar, you can teach it fire ponch after you capture it. They are
located in the temple where the three legendary dogs's statues are. Koffing
is there, too.
Thunder type: Magmit, because it's little and small, sometimes the powerful
attack don't works on them.

Not a good choice:
Oddish: only good at fighting water type; no good defence.
Rock pokemon: not good at all, don't even think about that.
Rattata: They may look good for a while, but you'll why they are bad latter.
Magikap: no!! don't think about that. just wait, you can
catch a Gyaradose at 30L later.
Weedle: yes, it's poison sting is the best, but no onther specials and
everyone can lock it out easily.
Changing team members:
Uctually, changing in GS is not a good idea. But if you want to, well it's Ok.
When you think about that, there are some good ones.
The legend fire bird (Hou-Hou): in gold, you can catch it after you have 8 badges.
It's at level 40. It knows a strong fire attack (Holly Fire), gust, and some
psychic (no damage attacks).
Lugia (the legend water pokemon): in silver, you can catch it after you have
8 badges. It's at level 40, too. Attack??(I am playing and almose there.)
Milta (don't know it's the right spell): it's the new pokemon the normal gym
leader has. It has great defence and amazing attack.
Tarus: it can use surf, and have amazing attack and defence. But watch out thunders.
Drogan pokemons: Gyaradose, it's a good choose, learn attack at 5 or 0 numbered
level. At 35L Tornado (a poweful looking, but it's not that great). At 40L,
Hydra Hump. At 45L, Name?? (No good attack anyway). At 50L, Hyper beam.
Others drogan: it's sort of late to change a pokemon at the 8th gym, and they
are just around 12L. But you can get one in the casino with 2100 coins, it will
cost you about $41,000! and it's at only 10L.
Learning useful stages and evolution levels - this maybe
not that accurated, but the pokemons will learn or evolve around the levels
below:
Pigey: 9L Gust, 14L quick attack, 18L
Evolve, 33L- 36L wing attack, 36L evolve
Bellsprourt: 13-14L sleep P., 15-16L poison P., 17-18., stun P., 19L Warp20L-23L
evolve,
22-25L acid, 42L razor leaf.
Merip: 9L thundershock., 15-18L Evolve, 30L
thunder ponch, 30L-33L evolve., 41L
Light Screen
Psyduck: 32-33L Evolve, 42L furyswip
Drowzee: 18L confusin, 30-33L evolve
Laparas: 36L Icebeam
Caterpie: 6L evolve, 10L
evolve, 10L confution, 12L sleep P., 14L poison P., 16L Stuns P., 28-29L
Gust.
Teaching - Teaching pokmon the
right TM and HM is really important, too.
Useful New TM's (the TM's below are really easy to find, or you can buy them):
The 3 ponches you can buy from the shop in the radio city
Thunder Ponch: works good on a lot of pokemon except rock type, specially good
at water.
Fire Ponch: works on every type of pokemon, but they good at fight grass and
eletric type.
Ice Ponch: works good at a lot of pokemon except ice type. The drogan pokemons
are afraid of this attack, too.
+ Teaching fire ponch after merip evolve. It's thunder type, if it just knows
thunder attack, it will loses fighting a rock type. Also, electric don't work
that good on grass type.
+ Teaching ice ponch to water pokemon or drowzee.
TM 01 (Exploding ponch): Very powerful ponch, the opponent will be confused
after being hit.
Teach it to a powerful pokemon, doesn't matter it's a fighting one.
TM 02 (Butt): A powerfull attack. It also can be used to swing the little trees.
TM 07 (Eletric cannon): A really powerful thunder attack, but the hp is only
5.
Teach it to a powerful electric pokemon.
TM 13 (Snore): Your sleeping pokemon can make damages when they are sleeping.
But it's not a powerful attack.
Snorlex knows this attack when you catch it.
TM 23 (Iron Tail): You probably know how powerful it is from fight the iron
Onix in the steel gym.
I think you can teach this attack to not only rock type pokemon, but pokemon
with tails, too.
TM 24 (Drogan Storm): I think it's a fire type attack (from the pictures).
Only drogan pokemon can learn this.
HM's - There are actually 2 HM's
added in GS: 06 Tide & 07 Fload.
These two are for water type pokemons. Tide is not a really good attack. Fload
is OK.
Eevee - You can get a eevee at level 20 after defeat the team rocket
in the radio city from Bill. Turn at the casion, (there is a guy block the street
before defeat Team R., but the guy rans away after you defeat them), There are
3 doors or houses you can enter; the second one is Bill's. Talk to him, he will
give you a eevee (only bring 5 pokemons with you).
Other way to get Eevee - (1) In the casino, you
can exchang eevee with you coins. (2) Get you eevee to the man in the breeding
house, and give a ditto to the woman. Ditto will produce a eevee at level 5.
(You can use this as many times as you want)
Why using eevee - You probably know that eevee
has two more evolution stages, they now can evolve without stones. The 2 new
stage are really strong psychic pokemon. They have advantage almost on everything
(Believe me, they are really hard to fight). But the bad thing is you don't
know when they gonna evolve.
Togepi - it's nice to have a togepi, but he
doesn't learn some strong attack except metronose. So, you have use some TM's
on it. Butt (TM 02) is a good choice, and psychic once.
Evolution - I think all of us are waiting for togepi to evolve, but well if
you have some luck, it well evolve early, if you don't, well just wait longer.
There is no particular level for togepi to evolve, like eevee, just make them
happy enough, then they may evolve.
Make pokemon happy: if you want you eevee and togepi
to be happy enough for evolving, go to the radio city, and go down to the underground
path. One of the two sellmans is to make pokemon happy.
Catching pokemon: Since, the difficult level
is up, catching pokemon become a little hard, too.
Timing: as you probably notice, in GS we have day and night changes, so some
pokemon can be caught at daytime, and some pokemon can be caught only at night.
Pokemon comes out at night:
Oddish, Ghost pokemon, Hoothooth, Staryu (you can fish it at night),
the spider like pokemon
the bring bad luck bird
a fire dog, the head of team rocket has two, and the dark trainer in the Johto
league has one (the 4th trainer).
Code Of Capture Pikachu? - I don't know is
that cheat or what, but I catch a pikachu by using that. Then I redid that again,
and pikachu appeared each time. I wanted to capture pikachu so badly, but it
was usless to wonder around the area where you can catch it on the map. I check
the map again, and then I closed it. I started to wonder again. There was a
pokemon shown up, then I ran away. Then I walked a bit, Pikachu appeared. I
followed the same steps, and each time, the second pokemon is pikachu. WOW OH...!
But it's daytime only. (Not sure that this code
works everytime. But if you cannot find a pikachu, it's worth a try.)
Item Duplication - Equip a pokemon with
a strong item, such as a Master Ball. Put a pokemon with FLY in the first position
of your lineup. Put a very bad pokemon, such as Rattata, in your second slot,
and put the pokemon with the item to be duplicated in your sixth slot. Put all
of the pokemon into a PC box except for the first one. Take out the second one.
Enter the Bug Catching contest, but exit it as soon as you enter. When the clerk
asks you if you want to leave, say NO which is always the bottom answer. Go
back in and use the flying pokemon to leave the contest. Deposit the second
pokemon back into a PC. Go back to the contest and say YES, which is always
the top answer, to finish. Now check your status screen. Your second pokemon
should be in your possession, and it will have the item you wanted to be duplicated
attached to it. Take the item away from it, then throw the pokemon away. You
may do this as many times as you want to get the items you need. (This
codes really works, but you have to wait the next day to enter the bug contest)
Always having companies - In
Gold & Silver, there are some very special trainers. Some of these are the man
near the entrance of "Ice Shortcut", a girl near the entrance of Victory Road
in route 26, and a man on route 28. After defeating these people, say "Yes"
to their question, and they will give you their phone number. Continue on your
journey, and sometimes they will call you back for a rematch! Some trainers
will catch some new pokemons, and their pokemons' level will go up, too.
Hi, I am back with more information. I am playing another new
Game now, and this time I started with the grass type one. This time is different,
I choose slowpoke, instead of psyduck. It was a really painful job to train
slowpoke. It learns watergun at level 15, and confusion at level 20. You may
catch it at level 6 or 8 in its cave at the bug gym town. From level 6 to level
7, it has to have about 127 points. That's a lot of points for that level. I
can tell you that it is painful to train slowpoke. It learns water gun at level
15, and confusion at level 20. I sort of get tired of train it, so I sent it
to the old couple's breeding center. But it was good after I have HM of surf,
and the Speed Ball TM from the ghost gym. Since, Psychic pokemon become stranger
than Ghost pokemon, use slowpoke to fight the Ghost gym. It will evolve at level
36-37. Mines evolved at level 37. Then now you can teach it ice ponch.
I am sort of trainning a rock type pokemon, I train a nidoran, female.
I never used the Moon Stone before, so this time, I sort of don't want to waste
it. It will evolve to nidorina about at level 19-21. Because I sent it to the
old couple's house, and when I got it back, it's about level 19. After it evolved
to nidorina, I taught her strength. After evolved to Nidoqueen, I taught her
ice ponch. The strange thing to me, is that thunder attack can cause damages
on here. I think nidoqueen and nidoking are not afraid of thunder. Anyway, I
have a hope on her, which is ice beam. In TV series, it knows ice beam; therefore,
I hope mine will learn it. But I think it will be after 50L.
This time I also remember to train the red Gyaradose. Before, I never
train my Gyaradose. Last time, I learned it would learn Hyper Beam at level
50. But remeber, do not use Gyaradose to fight small pokemon, its accuracy will
make you really mad. And also, it will become so weak, if it fights a thunder
type. But even it is afraid of thunder attacks, but Gyaradose can learn using
thunder.
I am so disapointed, because my Nidoqueen never learnt ice beam. But the good
thing is it is a such strang pokemon, and I used her a lot. I am so mad at Gyaradose,
because of its accuracy. In the Johto League, I used my Gyaradose to fight Lance's
Gyaradose. I used thunder 4 times, but it all missed. I also found out that,
slowbro is a such strong pokemon, I often use it, too. But remeber slowbro is
afraid of thunder pokemons and grass pokemons.
