These are long reviews, but Maynard James Keenan from Tool has put together a side
project.. the drummer is the old Guns N Roses Drummer.. the guitarist is actually the tool
guitar tech.. the shows were free and at small venues... the first paragraph is s me
TOOL/Deftones news. Its long, but read it all. Brian ___________________ Finally, some
more info on Maynard's new side project. A Perfect Circle (as it is really called) has
played three shows recently in LA, with more coming up soon. Info and reviews are
available in the long-neglected More section of this site. Rumors are circulating about
Maynard producing an upcoming Deftones project. So far, nothing is confirmed. But expect a
new album early next year, with a tour (likely with the Deftones) hopefully soon after.
___________________ I attended the both Perfect Circle shows. I got some pics at the show
at the Opium Den, but im sure the ones at the Troubadour turned out much better. There was
an attendence of about 40-50 people including Danny Carey, Chino (deftones) and Rage's
Drummer at the opium den. Im guessing there were more rock stars in my presence, but i
dont know many of thier faces. The Troubadour show was packed. Both shows were amazing.
Maynard said before he started the set at the Opium Den "If you think this is tool
type music and you wanna bang your head and break shit, youre going to be disapointed.
This is AM radio style music, like billy likes" They played a Cure and a Black
Sabbath cover and mixed the 2 together at the Opium Den, but didnt play it at the
Troubadour. At the end of the set, maynard mumbled something about they were opening for
Fishbone at the Keyclub on sunday or monday, i didnt quite make out what he said. Im
looking forward to going to Coachelle. i wonder if they ! will play anything new that they
have been working on. _______________ Kabir, Hey brother I went to the Whiskey show
yesterday and there is definitly much to report. But first I must ask what is Perfect
Circle???Unfortunatly I could not afford the Viper Room show and was unaware that Maynard
wouyld be performing regardless...now I hear that Maynard debuted his "new
project" Perfect Circle with whom he is recording an album... As for the whiskey
performance wow!!!! His band was called Recreational Racism. They were a country band
doing Circle Jerk covers. The only original they did was one of the funniest things I've
ever heard it was called "my big 'ol country boner wont go down" w/ lines like
" I fucked Elvis Presley on the toilet where he died" and " I fucked johnny
cash bent him over and fucked his tight white ass"...Maynard was in full character
complete w/ a big blonde pompador wig w/ big burlg sideburns and a bushy blonde mustache.
He was wearing a horrible beige suit w/ a big cowboy belt buckle. His band were all
cowboys except for his back-up singer who was a tammy-faye baker look-a-like complete w/
whig and makeup....It was hilarious chalk another one up for good 'ol Maynard!!! if anyone
has a copy of this show or pictures please email me.....

Who had that Anti-Proon site a long time ago? That site was funny. Someone let me
know what happened to it or where it's at for the Contest. Thanks for the complement on
this site. I try to keep up to date with the most urrent stuff about Proon. The other 3
give me feedback and comments of what they don't like and I quickly make changes. I also
give credit to the other 3.

There is no substitute for Easy Cheese. After years of research, scientists HAVE in fact
determined that in order to effectively duplicate the configuration, and maintain the
deferring combustion of flavor, one must decipher misleading, ficional subst tutions,
often mistaken by consumer/clients such as myself, from genuine, authentic, bona fide, if
you will, Easy Cheese. Unfortunatly, still no one has positive knowledge of the
origination, or the specific numerical ingredients that support its texur , flavor,
quality, and most importantly, its longevity. Can't wait to play with you guys on

Brian, you should show up to a Proon gig. I've heard some interesting stories of stuff
happing in secretive places while Proon is on stage playing. Whether or not it's a great
tasting beer you're looking for, good music and live performance, or somethin else like
kicking back and relaxing or that something else. You'll be amazed of what you can get and
how much of it just for showing up to a Proon gig. And all you have to say is that you
know Proon.

I wasn't lying... I said "over five years" and "almost ten years". The
truth is somewhere in the vicinity of 8 years. See, I became a fan the day I saw the video
for "It's Love" on MTV and went out and bought the "Faith, Hope, Love"
CD. I think that wa 1991 or 1992 which would make me a fan for 8 or 9 years. I wasn't
purposefully trying to mislead anyone. I just wasn't sure what the hell I was talking
about...

[7/29/99] - Early yesterday morning, many Los Angeles fans (including me) heard the
announcement on KROQ FM about their "Coachella" festival, taking place in the
desert of Indio, CA on October 9 and 10. While not yet listed on their website, the radio
ads insist Tool is "confirmed." Other bands said to be playing include Rage
Against the Machine, Beck, Morrissey, and the Chemical Brothers. THIS IS HUGE TOOL
NEWS!!!!!!! Also Chi from the Deftones is saying that they will Tour with Tool in 2000.

Okay, here's the deal. This morning KWOD had on the "Scooter & Piehole Show"
instead of Sean and Jeff. It was lame... syndicated
Howard-Sternish-shock-jock-let's-offend-everyone crap. They had a blast ripping into
S&J and talking about how stupid they ere. Then this afternoon, the KWOD station
manager gets on the air and says that Scooter & Piehole had been put on as a temporary
thing while S&J's contract was being negotiated. Apparently, they hadn't reached an
agreement. But according to the statio manager, as of tomorrow, due to the overwhelming
negative response to Scooter & Piehole, Sean will be back on the air in the morning,
and starting Monday the Sean and Jeff Show will return. I have to admit I'm still only a
casual fan, but I am glad they re back. What KWOD did wasn't right. Nick Monroe is gonna
be eating crow tonight.

I thought the Shawn and Jeff things was totally messed up!! I can't believe they updated
the website without telling them!! That means quite a few people in the station must have
known about it but NOT them. What are they going to do now? Has KWOD re eased any
statement on why they got rid of them... They weren't anything special though.. I'd listed
to them all throughout high school.. pretty bland.. is that guy AC or whatever still doing
the mid day show? hes pretty horrible too.. I actually went n air with him once talking
about computer viruses and hoaxes and stuff.. Congrats on the 1500 hit.. I think I was
hits 5-500 and 600-1300 ;)

I would just like to comment on KWOD's handling of the replacing of Sean and Jeff's
Morning Show. I've never seen a business behave so unprofessionally. They put an
advertisement for the new morning show on their website before Sean and Jeff were even t
ld they were being replaced! S&J had to find out from a listener on today's show that
tomorrow they're not going to be on the air. They wound up spending the entire show
humiliated, trying to find out if it was true from their absent station manager. W ether
you like the show or not, that's ridiculous. I'll let you form your own opinions... you've
got mine.

hey Ken, I like Too Many Puppies, it sounds pretty easy to play but does have an edge. I
was thinking that To Defy the Laws of Tradition (not sure if that is the song title) would
be a cool song to cover too.. it has a lot of guitar work on it that is cool as well as
bass (most songs are more bass then anything) And the lyrics on it are pretty cool too..
but I'd say go with John the Fisherman if Curt could hang!! That sure would be a learning
experience! For some reason I am not sure if I can r ally see Scotte getting into a Primus
cover.. I think Vic might because 1) the Primus drummer is mexican and 2) the drums are
pretty cool (although his kit is hella small)

Finally, a fellow PRIMUS fan. I was thinking what would be a good Primus song for us to
cover. The first song Primus ever wrote, "Too Many Puppies" would be ideal. It's
not terribly complex, but it pounds! It's the only song that skips on my Frizzle F y
album. I hate that. I didn't like the version of it on Rhinoplasty as much though... too
mumbly. Maybe I'll play it for the guys and see what they think. If you dig Primus, go out
and buy SAUSAGE... it's the original lineup of Primus with I believe odd Huth (mentioned
in the song "Fish On") on guitar. Basically the same band with a slightly darker
sound. They suck as well.

At the last Primus show I attended he gave us the choice of hearing Harold on the Rock or
My name is Mud as the encore.. the crowd cheered loudest for Harold on the Rocks. John the
Fisherman is AWESOME, but the base part is not easy at all.. I love the ntro.. the loooong
slide and then it goes into that FAT base riff.. it doesn't sound like much but its long,
droning, and he throws in some really high bass notes too, I liked watching him play it
because he makes it look so damn easy!! "When I grow up I want to be, a harvestor of
the sea.." I could just picture you guys covering that one.. I am not a HUGE primus
fan but I got into them slowly.. I had one of those friends in High school that was ALL
ABOUT PRIMUs.. like everything was Pri us, he lived it.. so I was like "dude if I had
to get just one primus album, where should I start" he said FRIZZLE FRY!!!! So I got
it.. and I liked it.. I used to listen to it a lot after work when I was just chillin
online, it was cool.. since then I ave picked up quite a few other albums.. Sailing the
Seas of cheese isnt bad, I like Jerry was a racecar drive and Tommy the Cat.. I bought
Rhinoplasty mainly for the Metallica Cover, but I liked how they re-did a couple of their
songs too. But their live performance is unprecedented.. you know how there are some bands
that just aren't quite as good live as they are on CD? Well primus is definitely NOT one
of them.. you appreciate the music so much more when you get to watch it being produced.
Its lso kinda cool that with the exception of maybe 1 song per album, they really are
boycotted by the main stream commercial music industry, but they are still recognized as
Gods (well at least Les is) They are not and probably never will a true main stream band,
kinda reminds me of NOFX. Speaking of main stream (and I KNOW this is turning into a
lengthy guestbook post) but I can't help but laugh at the state of music now.. I remember
about 6 months to a year ago myself and many other people were totally complaining about
the pussies that were putting out and getting their music played on the radio and MTV..
bands like 3rd eye blind, matchbox 20, eve 6, that type of thing.. now its SOOO different,
now its all about Limp Bizkit, and Korn, and Orgy.. t ey totally went extreme... and
instead of your nice poppy rap songs we have totally pansy ass bands like Backentry boys,
N'Synch, and 98 degrees... its scary almost. They took bands like Korn and turned them
into sugar coated cash cows! 3 years ago got ahold of the first limp bizkit CD and was
playing it for my roomate.. he hated it, I had the first KorN album in high school, no one
liked it, now its like everyone is all over them! One minute your spitting in their face
and the next your sucking their dick.. weird. Its always nice to see a band that you have
liked for a long time, even when everyone else dissed them, get a little respect and
credit. I'm sure the same thing will happen with Proon right fellahs!

Yeah, I had to make Vic stand up for my favorite band Primus and while I was bouncing to
the groove Vic was stoic. But I think underneath it all he liked it. They didn't play John
the Fisherman, but you know, we could cover that song easy... it's one of my favorites
too. Vic did say that he liked My Name Is Mud, but only because I sing it so much at
practice that he actually knew some of the words. They ended their set with another of my
favorites, Harold of the Rocks... "and in doing so each gave just a little bit of his
soul away... (long pause for effect) what a couple of dumb s--ts!"

Oh man you guys went to Ozfest???? DAMN!!! I am VERY VERY dissapointed in you guys for NOT
staying for Rob Zombie. Let me explain why. I inadvertantly saw a Rob Zombie show a couple
months ago. He was the co-head liner with KoRn on their last tour.. I really wasn't even
interested in seeing him as you guys were, but when he came on it was absolutely
outstanding. He is a TRUE performer. He is the type of guy where it doesn't really matter
what type of songs he is playing, whatever it is it is going to KICK ASS. He had naked
chicks, TONS of pyrotechnics (something it seems only Metallica does anymore) crazy
special effects, and surprisingly his music was cool. It was so much better live.. and I
KNOW vic will like this, he busted out with 1965 or w atever song that is off of one of
their first albums, I remember you playing it for me one day after you got off work at
KFC.. anyways that song is awesome. He also plays some other old skool White Zombie stuff.
I have mixed feelings on Black Sabbath I like the stigma of the band, I love the fact that
they are one of the main influences of Metallica, I would watch them just to see Toni Iomi
(sp) play.. especially since it was probably the last time you'd ever have that chance.
But you guys probabl had to leave to get home and get to bed or get home to your women or
something right? I saw Primus live a couple times, I love watching Les Claypool, plus the
drummer for Primus is pretty sweet too. Vic has never been much of a Primus fan so it
surprises me he even watched them. John the Fisherman is my favorite song live.. it is
just a esome. I was in the very front row of a Primus show once and I got to watch his
mastery of the bass close up, reminded me up Curtiss' skilz! :) I am getting into the new
Godsmack single that is out, wasn't impressed by their first one though.. I think it was
called "whatever" I like System of a Down, I actually got a hold of their 2 song
demo 3 years ago.. they have their own little style but i definitely fits the Ozzfest
bill.. Deftones are pimp.

Vic and I went to Ozzfest yesterday and it kicked ass. Here's the run-down of the bands
that were there... System of a Down - bummer, got there too late to see 'em... Godsmack -
rocked, sweet double drum solo... Slayer - too amazed they're still around, kipped them,
got garlic fries instead... Slipknot - scary, VERY scary... Fear Factory - too frickin'
loud... Primus - SUCKED as always baby!, highlight of the show in my opinion... and
finally Deftones - gave a shout out to Sacto, excellent! We left befo e Rob Zombie or
Black Sabbath... just not our thing. Overall, an excellent reason to take a sick day. In a
word, PROONtastic.

A little old lady went to the grocery store to buy cat food. She picked up three cans and
took them to the check out counter. The girl at the cash register said, "I'm sorry,
but we cannot sell cat food without proof that you have a cat. A lot of old pe ple buy cat
food to eat and the management wants proof that you are buying the cat food for your
cat." The little old lady went home, picked up her cat and brought it to the store.
They sold her the cat food. The next day she tried to buy three cans of og food. Again the
cashier demanded proof that she had a dog because old people sometimes eat dog food. She
went home and brought in her dog. She then bought the dog food. The next day she brought
in a box with a hole in the lid. The old lady asked th cashier to stick her finger in the
hole. The cashier said, "No, you might have a snake in there." The little old
lady assured her that there was nothing in the box that would harm her. So the cashier put
her finger in the box and pulled it out and tol the little old lady, "That smells
like shit." The little old lady said, "It is. Now can I buy three rolls of
toilet paper?"

If you are a true PROONIE you will heed my solemn words... don't ever go to the Jack In
The Box on Leisure Town Road in Vacaville. I used to go to this particular fast food
establishment every week before practice with the band... every week until two weeks ago
that is. On that fateful day I went through the drive through for my usual pre-practice
snack and paid for my two dollar purchase with a $20 bill. Granted, it was my bad driving
away without my change after the girl said cheerily "Have a nice day" (to which
I of course responded "You too"), but when I went back later to claim my
forgotten $18 I got the run-around. Now okay, I understand they don't just believe any
fool who comes in off the street claiming "you owe me $18", so I left my name
and address so they could call me after they "checked the reciepts". I never got
a call so a week later I go in again and the manager says "we checked our reciepts
and we weren't over for that day, in fact we were UNDER by $13." Now, if they had
said they had checked and they were dead even for the day I probably would have thought to
myself "maybe I DID get my money and I'm just stupid." But the fact that they
were UNDER only tells me that their cashiers are completely incompetent, adding
plausability to my claim. So I argue my case and this lady gives my some bogus phone
number of her "regional manager" with whom I can take it up. Of course, no one
ever answers the phone at this number. All I'm looking for is my $18 and a "sorry for
the inconvenience, sir"... Oh, screw the apology, I just want my 18 bucks! Is it
really worth this much trouble? I don't know. But I'll tell you one thing. I won't be
going to THAT Jack In The Box again. And if you care about me and my plight I urge you to
join my boycott and pass them by as well. Thank you for your time.

working with a rep for SONY trying to get Proon a break. My friend is a talent scout and
his focus is alternative/rock bands. He has a Proon press kit and will give it a listen.
He gets a $10,000 bonus for every b nd that he recommends and that gets signed so he has
enough of an incentive to pass your stuff along to his boss.. his boss then can send it to
the VP and he is the guy that can make the final decision. Hopefully you will be hearing
from a Sony rep so etime soon, if they liked the CD then they would want to see you guys

Congratulations on passing those classes Curt, looks like you did some good last minute
schmoozing with the profs!.... Hey I am a big howard Stern fan, and it seems like everyday
he has some lame ass band on there trying to get a song played... basically f the band
will do something extreme enough, Stern will let them on.. OR the sure fire way to get
your song played on the radio is to have some chicks come get naked for him... I say that
Proon should get all their women, girlfriends or otherwise, take a fat road trip out to
New York, and bare dat ass on the Howard Stern Show! Think about it, even getting to hear
30 seconds of "Alright with me" on a nationally syndicated Radio show would be
awesome. Think about it (okay Vicki? :) )

I like the "Whats New" page, very cool. What exactly is Cafe Paris?
unfortunantly since i live in Southern CA i doubt I will see a show there, is it a bar?
restaurant? Lets here from some of the fans that saw the show? Anyone want to give a
review or all of us that couldn't make it (but wanted to).

Okay, since nobody was able to answer the trivia question, including some members of the
band, here's the story... After our first song, "The Secret", I inexplicably
disappeared for a month leaving Scott, Vic and Curt wondering if I was even in the band r
not. They practiced a few times without me and when I returned from my hiatus Scott had
written the music for both "Monster" and "Polygraph". I just happened
to write lyrics for "Polygraph" first, making it our secong song. Consequently,
it was durin my disappearance that the band was named PROON, so I don't really know where
the name came from... As for the second trivia question, we sometimes jokingly refer to
our fans as PROONIES... And Vicki, we are presently working on a new song entitled
"Last Call". It's another pounding Scott Vaughn creation, sounding something
like Greenday meets Oleander. Hope you like it. It should be making its debut soon.

dude, nobody is going to get the trivia answer of "what we call our fans" cuz
even I had to think about it for a while. Kinda interesting brian said it could be
"Scotte's bread and butter" becasue thats actually what we refer to our second
song as (If yo leave out Scotte').

Brian, thanks for the suggestions. Now that I'm finished with finals, I'll put up a News
page for those people who check The Proon Pit daily and want to know What's New with
Proon. Thanks Shelly for getting a bunch of your friends to vote for Proon play on stage @
98 rock. Ken, I don't even think I know the answer to your question. I have an idea what I
think was the second song. I'll ask at practice to see if I'm right.

Good guess to question number one Bri, but Monster was actually the THIRD song PROON
wrote... not the second. As for question number two, if we called the fans those things,
we wouldn't have any fans... keep guessing.

Wow a contest!!! I want to take a guess at the answers, but if I am write tell me
privately I don't want to ruin the contest for anyone else and I don't need another
FOREWARD CD (although anyone who doesn't have one should get one). Was the second so g
written Monster? I remember hearing Scotte' (the guitarist) Jam on that way back in the
day. Um as far as what the band jokingly calls their fans? Is it "their
bitches?" ha ha or lemmee I dunno I am trying to think of something goofy that Vic w
uld think of like "Scotte's bread and butter baby!" "Our social
security" I dunno, Im probably wrong but those sound funny. -Brian aka Bill the

Thanks for the feedback Bill. I like the idea about a frequently updated news page. Every
week we have new things going on with the band and it would be cool to share it with the
fans. We'll look into adding those kinds of things because they're good s ggestions.
Anyone have any more suggestions on how to improve the website? Just to keep it
interesting, here's a couple of trivia questions that you may or may not be able to
answer... 1) Anyone who's even a partial PROONfan knows that "The Secret" was
the first PROON song ever written. What was the second? 2) What do the band members
jokingly call their fans? The first person to post the correct answer to either question
on this guestbook page wins a free "Foreword" CD. Don't forget to vote for PROON
to play at the 98ROCK Jambo-freakin'-ree... go to
http://www.krxq98rock.com/localstage.html and vote PROON baby!

Ya know I check out the Proon pit web page daily, and I was thinking of a couple of idea
that could really spice things up. First, how about have a "NEWS" page. This
would be the first page that someone goes to when they check out the site, it should ha e
the latest and greatest Proon news on it and be the most frequently updated page. This
page would let us know if new pics had been posted, if there was a new show coming up, a
new T-shirt maybe, or just to let us know whats going on with Proon like "We are
writing new stuff" or "we are looking into playing this show" or "we
were thinking about this" etc etc. Second, how about running a monthly contest or
something. I haven't put too much thought into it, but do a radio-station style contest
and use a CD as the prize, or a shirt, or something. Maybe make it a trivia question (a
cool one though) or something that someone had to do... that would make the site a little
more interactive. Get the viewer involved more, make them want to come back. Personally I
have hit the page over 1000+ times and I think that would easily be 10,000 if there was
actually some hing fun to do or read. Right now the page is kinda like an album liner, you
read it once, but thats it, who read an album liner more then once? you read it when you
first get the album and then you never see it again. Anyways, thats just my 2 cents. Love,
Bill

I voted for Proon on the KRXQ website. Maybe now I wont be censored on the Proon page. I
think being between Oleander and Limp Bizkit would rule. Both of those bands are awesome.
Oleander is getting radio play nation wide, I'm hoping Proon will be t e same way soon!!
Lets get those CD's out to the right people!! Hey I saw that you guys already have a
promoter? What agency is he with? Who does he know in the industry?

Hey PROONFANS. Please help us get on the second stage at 98ROCK's Jambo-freakin'-ree Three
on June 20, 1999 at Sac State's Hornet Stadium. Go to the 98ROCK website at
http://www.krxq98rock.com and vote for PROON on the Jambo-freakin'-ree page. If we ge
enough fan support requesting us, we'll be playing on the second stage between acts on the
main stage. An inside source tells us we may be put between Sacramento's Oleander and main
headliner Limp Bizkit. That means 15,000 Sac music fans will hear us w ile they set up and
take down equiptment on the main stage!! But we need your help and support to do it. We
appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you at our next show. -KC and PROON

other bands, so..you know how first shows are. Oh well..looking forward to seeing you
