Enough of the depressing topics for now. Let me get back to reminiscing about the wedding. Now where was I?
Ah, yes, Testrofest '99.
Lowlandz arranged to have a Bachelor Party for me the Thursday before the ceremony. As I was really not expecting him to go to the trouble, I was quite touched that he made the gesture. Afterall, he already threw one such party for me ten years ago, which is really all one can expect from his best friend/man.
It is strange how time changes things we believe to be everlasting. The only people that were at my second stag that were also at the first were me and Lowlandz. Drey was supposed to be in attendance for this one, but due to Flloyd, his flight from Toronto was cancelled. I was disappointed that he could not have been there.
Needless to say, it was a great evening. It was also more or less an essential party lest the hormone balance in the city become skewed due to the Bridal Shower cum Vulva-Palooza happening downtown.
The Goddess was quite humbled with the crown and scepter (toilet plunger) that were her shower gifts from me (Thanks, Frieda!).
Us manly men played pool, drank, scratched, and complained about women at a local pool hall. Lowlandz went so far as to secure us the private room, complete with a phone to place our orders, a television, and stereo. A good time was had by all (I think...Alyx skipped out halfway through and I am still skeptical that I got the full story on that one; it was a hoot having him there even for a little while). I, on the other hand, was a bit of a pooper initially; I was concerned that drinking would have an adverse effect on the anti-depressants I am taking. However, after the first t'killya shooter, I wasn't much concerned about anything. After the second, the evening becomes a bit fuzzy around the edges.
After the third, all I remember is Lowlandz and Rhiannon managing to get me, my car, and critters home safe and sound.
It was not all too easy getting up Friday morning, the 17th, the last day of my bachelorhood.
But did it ever go out with a bang. At least as much bang as this thirtyish body was permitting.
