The Spiritual Journey

"Peace Finally Prevails"....February 3, 2000

Mid-evening...

...and although there are still hours to go before I can bring myself to sleep, I feel weariness creeping up on me as silently and stealthily as a wild feline. Cats usually get their kill, but this quintessential night owl has a propensity to be quite evasive.

It is a long day both at work and on the home front, probably because this is the day that the two collide head on given that my overnight client is here. Adding to the stress, although not in an internalizing way is The Goddess, who has been in a bit of a domestic crisis after our refridgerator decided to call it quite yesterday afternoon. While I have been concerned about meat, dairy, and produce, she has been concerned about the one tiny slab of frozen left over Wedding cake that we are to share on our first anniversary this September. Having seen the cake out of the freezer and into the fridge last night, melting rapidly and not too appetizingly, I gave her a kiss, wished her a Happy Anniversary, and expressed my desire to delve into a slice before it was inedible.

She sulked, refused to let me committ sacrilege by having any, but then made plans to have the baker make us more for the real event.

We did manage to have the fridge fixed late this afternoon, but not before the cake resembled trifle.

My mother is going to be fine, for the time being at least. The mass that was CATScanned proved to be non-malignant. Although it is mere speculation at this point, the doctors are considering the possibilities of a cyst or even TB.

Nevertheless, she is out of the woods, we are all relieved, and I owe a debt of gratitude to The Gods and Goddesses, as well as my dear wife and friends who were so supportive while we waited for word. As for Mom, she stayed in bed all day after hearing the news. I knew she was worrying herself to exhaustion, despite her adamance to prove otherwise on the outside.

Part of me cannot help but wonder, though, that it is only a matter of time before the axe really falls.

It was a relatively calm, peaceful day overall. The first in a long while, but elevated by some pleasant news. I think that I will take a nice long tubby soak after the client goes to bed, then relax in my candle lit living room while meditating to some mild Celtic music.

I have earned the break, both for body and spirit.

'Night all...

....Blessed Be...
