THAT'S THE SPIRIT!

A brief monthly excursion into the world of things which can't be explained by 'scientific' means. Your own TRUE stories are most welcome. David Francis describes an unusual meeting in a chalet resort north of Chiangmai.

A friend who is most certainly not given to flights of fancy told me of this brief encounter near Fang, where he stopped for one night at a chalet resort. Parking his car under a shelter next to his chalet, he noticed that each building was painted a different colour.

During the night he was awoken by someone talking, so close that it could have been inside his room. He sat up and turned on the light, and to his amazement saw a beautiful young woman, totally naked, standing in front of him. "Can you help me?" she kept repeating. Shocked, he grabbed a blanket and jumped from the bed to offer it to her, only to see her rise a little into the air and float backwards through the locked door.

Determined to find an explanation, my friend unlocked the door and ran outside, looking everywhere for the young woman, but in vain. He returned to bed, but there was no more sleep for him that night!

At a business meeting nearby the next day, a Thai colleague told my friend that he looked as if he had been awake all night. Admitting it was true, the man mentioned the name of the resort and told his brief and disturbing tale. "Oh, you stayed in the blue chalet" ventured the Thai. His spine beginning to tingle, my friend confirmed the fact and asked why.

"A young woman was raped and murdered in that chalet and the culprit was never caught. You are not the only one to have seen her since...." came the calm reply.
