Society for Technical CommunicationLike many others, I joined the STC when I was looking for work, and stayed because I got so much value from the meetings. I joined the Online Communication Special Interest Group nine years ago to improve my knowledge in that area. Both the information I have learned and the contacts that I have made have been useful to me in my job. For example, when I was having trouble with cross-references in FrameMaker text insets, I knew someone who was expert in using them. STC activities include:
XML Authoring GroupThe group discusses how they are using XML in their jobs. Until recently, my interest was more on the implementation aspects, because my company has several XML products. Now that I am using Document! X to produce online help (Help2), these meetings are even more useful. Triangle .NET Users GroupThe chapter meetings cover technical issues related to aspects of .NET programming. I also participate in the ADO.NET Special Interest Group, which discusses topics closely related to one of the products that I document. |
