Staircase
The custom made metal
staircase
was designed to allow room for a plant area. It has five
adjustable light fixtures. This area is tiled with the
soft-white Italian tile and the steps are carpeted with the
plush fawn carpet. This leads to the second level of the
home.
Master Bedroom
From the stairway landing one
enters the master bedroom through double french doors with
brass and crystal knobs made in Germany. The solid-brass
mortise latch hardware is by Baldwin.
The
fawn-colored carpet is continued throughout the master
bedroom.
The
eight windows are again custom made and are made of redwood
sash and thermo-pane glass. The center windows at both
dormers are operable and have screens. There are clear heart
redwood display/pot shelves built under each
window.
The
wall fabric is carried through the master bedroom. Since no
walls extend to the ceiling, you can enjoy the beauty of the
dome structure and special lighting.
The
thirty-one custom lights discussed under the living room
area continue into the master bedroom. There are two
recessed lights in the dormers and two solid-brass light
fixtures over the headboard for night reading. There is an
operable bubble skylight and stereo speaker jacks in this
area.
The
perimeter walls are redwood tongue and groove and the
triangles are mahogany with fir trim.
There
are two closets with four full length mirrors. There is one
recessed door for additional closet space. The closets have
four adjustable recessed lights.
This
room has a custom designed and made redwood headboard with
four built-in areas and a bookshelf at each end.
An
eleven and one half foot oak built-in dresser has adjustable
shelves and all drawers are on rollers with solid brass
handles.
One
can see over the dresser into the living area.
The
silk-screen design is of peony flowers on redwood frames
which stand in front of each dormer. Matching designs cover
the french doors.
A
second thermostat controls the heating for the upstairs
area.
