Maps & Directions to our Meetings

The Sierra Foothills Rose Society meets the first Thursday of each month, except July and August at 7:30 P.M. at the St. Marks Lutheran Church, 7869 Kingswood Dr. Citrus Heights, CA. Meetings include a short business meeting, cultural tips from the Society's Consulting Rosarians, exhibition tips through a monthly Little Rose Show and interesting programs on rose culture by knowledgeable speakers. Refreshments are served by members of the society at every meeting. See the 2001 schedule of rose activities and events for more details.

There are several ways to come to Saint Marks Lutheran Church depending on your starting point. The maps below show all the roads and highways in the Sacramento Valley area in relation to St. John's Lutheran Church. Further instructions are given below if you are coming from the south, the west, or the north. Directions to Saint Marks Lutheran Church:

From the Bay Area and Davis: Take I-80 Freeway into Sacramento. When approaching Sacramento take the I-80 towards Reno. This will take you through northern Sacramento. Take the Madison Av. Exit and continue on Madison for about 4 miles until you come to Sunrise Blvd. At Sunrise Blvd, turn left and go north for about 1/2 mile to Kingswood Dr. and turn Left. St. Marks is located at the NE corner of Birdcage Dr. and Kingswood. Make a right on Birdcage and make an immediate right again into the church's parking lot and continue to the end. The society meets in the church's gymnasium. There is usually somebody there starting about 6:45 PM to set up the room.

From Stockton or points south: There are two ways to come into Sacramento. If you are traveling on I-5 continue through Sacramento and go west on I-80 about 4 miles north of downtown Sacramento. Once on I-80 towards Reno. This will take you through northern Sacramento. Take the Madison Av. Exit and continue on Madison for about 4 miles until you come to Sunrise Blvd. At Sunrise Blvd, turn left and go north for about 1/2 mile to Kingswood Dr. and turn Left. St. Marks is located at the NE corner of Birdcage Dr. and Kingswood. Make a right on Birdcage and make an immediate right again into the church's parking lot and continue to the end. From the south you can also come up Hwy 99 towards Sacramento. Take the Hwy 50 west towards Lake Tahoe and continue west until Sunrise Blvd. Take the Sunrise Blvd exit and go north for about 4 miles. After passing Madison Av. keep and eye for Kingswood Dr. which is about 1/2 mile and turn Left. St. Marks Lutheran Church is located at the NE corner of Birdcage Dr. and Kingswood. Make a right on Birdcage and make an immediate right again into the church's parking lot and continue to the end. The society meets in the church's gymnasium. There is usually somebody there starting about 6:45 PM to set up the room.

Usually a group of rosarians take out the guest speaker out to dinner. They usually meet the speaker anywhere from 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM. If you want to join the the group, please contact one of the Board members to let you know where the speaker would like to go out to dinner. There are many restaurants near Saint Mark's Church. Some are within a 5 minute walking distance. There are also the usual fast food places for you to choose from. Here is a short list of some that I have visited:

Black Angus, along Greenback Ln near the near the NE corner of Sunrise Bl. and Greenback Ln.

Bobby McGee's, located just south of St. Marks within a two block walking distance.

El Torito, located just south of St. Marks within a two block walking distance.

Fresh Choice, located south of St. Marks at the NW corner of Sunrise Bl. and Madison Av.

Hometown Buffet, located about 2-3 miles north of the St. Marks Woodmore Oaks Av.

Marie Calendar's, located just south of St. Marks within a two block walking distance.

Olive Garden, located south of St. Marks at the NW corner of Sunrise Bl. and Madison Av.

Rogelio's Mexican Restaurant, located in the middle of Birdcage Mall.
