The foot of the mountains

We walked and walked and after an hour suddenly from the mist we saw the mountains covered with clouds front of us. Forested, mystical and silent, these hill ranges are part of the Western Ghats which lye accross the western coast of India. I had heard that, " these thickly forested hills and valleys respond to the call of the monsoon, with dancing waterfalls, mist-circling peaks and craggy precipices. The wind velocity in the peaceful valleys here is an unforgettable experience;the landscape is an outstanding example of mountain scenery." I was about to experience all this. I don't know at what alitutude we were, (while at the foot of the mountains) but our destination was about 1,424 metre (5000 ft approx.) above sea level.
