Vision Statement:
  • To help grow and strengthen the body of Christ
  • To help our pastor take our congregation to the next level of praise and worship
  • To minister through dance

  • As called, appointed and anointed ministers of dance, St. James Dance Ministry's (SJDM) mission is to rebuild, restore, and reclaim all that God has for us. We do this by reading, studying, living and dancing the word, witnessing, offering praise and worship and dancing spiritual warfare against satan. God is using SJDM to help the saints identify their gifts, use them for the building of His kingdom, therefore making disciples in every nation. By helping to grow and strengthen the body of Christ, aspiring to the next level of praise and worship, maturing into our gifts and seeking God's face, we can all experience the fullness of God and prepare for His coming.

St. James Dance Ministry is open to all members of St. James AME who are saved, love God, love to move, have a sense of rhythm and coordination, and most importantly, who feel they are called and committed to serving through dance. The Word commands us all to dance (Ps. 149:3, Ps. 150:4). To minister, you must be called.

St. James Dance Ministry is divided into 4 divisions:

The Adult Women (Jewels of Judah)
Have grown from 8 founding women to over 30 graceful worshipers leading others into praise and worship.

The Men and Boys (Armor Bearers for Christ)
Are a group of men and boys who dance like David danced (II Same. 6:14). The men serve as positive role models for the younger boys directed by Darrell Pope.

    The Instruments of Praise
Allows people with limited movement to praise God through dance despite their physical limitations directed by Deborah Terry (Ps. 30:11).

    The Children (Seeds of Salvation)
Has grown from a group of children who just dance to gospel music to a group of children who truly minister about God's goodness, directed by Jackie Sims and Tracy Steward (Job 21:11).
