The First Years

A group of home schooling parents were interested in building a CoHousing community. In the course of these meetings we discussed many building philosophies, of which I became introduced to Straw Bale construction. We met for about a year. And talked and talked and... Don't get me wrong, I did a fair amount of talking.

The final result: some fun meetings, potlucks, parties, some information, some dreams. No other action, but a loose plan to meet again once the summer was over. That meeting never happened.

I felt that we had unleashed a fire hydrant to fill our tea cups. It was a little overwhelming. We became disheartened when we could not adequately hold our own tea cups. Most of us are still wanting that drink.

In The Middle

These meetings started in fall 1996 and ended in spring 1997. From those meetings I realized that there is a time for words and there is a time to do. I wasn't ready to act. I was in an introspective mode, so I took a year sabbatical from people for the rest of that year. It is easy to do, just ignore everyone.
