Jewish Quarter

A memorial to Jewish victims

A look at the Jewish Quarter in Berlin, Spandauer Vorstadt.

This is one of the inner courtyards of an old complex. These complexes used to house very many people in small apartments and outdoor bathrooms with series of small courtyards.
Some really ugly GDR architecture, using pre-fabricated stone slabs on the wall. Completely function over form.
You can still see scars "projectile craters" of gunshots from fighting that took place in the streets during the WWII.
Neue Synagogue (The "New" Synagogue). It was opened in 1866.
I actually forget what this is. I think it may be a boy's high school.
After the tour, time for some good drinks at Beth Cafe.
