Jewish Quarter

A memorial to Jewish victims |
---|
A look at the Jewish Quarter in Berlin, Spandauer Vorstadt.
 |
This is one of the inner courtyards of an old complex. These complexes
used to house very many people in small apartments and outdoor bathrooms with series of
small courtyards. |
Some really ugly GDR architecture, using pre-fabricated stone slabs
on the wall. Completely function over form. |
 |
 |
You can still see scars "projectile craters" of gunshots from fighting
that took place in the streets during the WWII. |
Neue Synagogue (The "New" Synagogue). It was opened in 1866.

 |
I actually forget what this is. I think it may be a boy's high school.
|
After the tour, time for some good drinks at Beth Cafe. |
