Charlottenburg Schloss

Charlottenberg Schloss. A Baroque palace from the days of the Hohenzollerns. Commissioned by King Fredrich I.

There are many wonderful museums in the Charlottenburg Area, of which the schloss (seen above) is one. Here is the Agyptisches Museum (Egyptian Museum).
The Brohan Museun. Decorative arts from 1889 to 1939.
Heimat Museum Charlottenburg (Local History Museum Charlottenburg).
Sammlung Berggruen. Currently here on display is the Picasso works from Heinz Berggruen's collection. Cezanne, Van Gogh, Gauguin and Braque's works also here.
The oldest house on this block, from late 19th century.
Charlottenburg Schloss itself. This part is the private living quarters of Fredrich I.
I think this is of Fredrich I.
Knobelsdorff Wing. Added by Fredrich II. Living and ceremonial quarters of many Prussian kings. Supposed to be the most beautiful part of the castle.
Orangerie, a plant nursery. Some lovely sculptures in front.
Galerie der Romantik (Gallery of the Romantics) houses works of Romantic and Biedermeier artists.
The smoke stacks in the background signal the looming of the industrial age.
Mausoleum. Queen Luise and Frederich Wilhelm III and others buried here.
A gorgeous altar.
These are the tomb covers, with sculpted figures that are lifelike. I think this one is Queen Luise.
Another tomb cover.
A view of the pond in the garden of the palace.
Little boy hoisting lamb.
