San Marcos
San Marcos is located within
45 minutes of
Guadalajara. This is a great place for ridge soaring and its famous glass off´s.
The ridge itself is over 5 kilometers long and has an AGL of 600 meters.
Some pilots have had over 50-kilometer XC flights and gains of over 1000 meters
above launch (+3500 m MSL). Flying is usually early morning or later afternoon for the
beginners. Mid day the thermals really start
to pick up and only pilots with P4 rating should fly. Later on in the day one
can fly into the sun set with great glass off´s. Wind direction for best flying is
West. However, South Westerly and North Westerly, flying is still possible.
