Competitions and Events

The 2002 season was the most successfull ever for the band, with 5th place in The Scottish Championships, bringing the band it's first 2 Champion of Champion points. The band has also chalked up Grade 4 wins in the Banbury, Colchester and Quartet competitions, coupled with excellent results in Grade 3.
June 2002 saw Pipe Major Gordon Mellay return home to Inverness. Shaun Forbes stepped in as Acting Pipe Major, and the band has already had success at Banbury, Knebworth, and Ashbourne under Shaun. Shaun has since been formally elected as Pipe Major.

Last Season

The 2001 season saw Dartford lift a trophy at every competition entered, giving a total of 15 trophies in the cabinet. This was our most successful year in the band's relatively brief history.

August 25th saw Dartford lift a trophy for 7th place at the Cowal gathering in Dunoon. A very good performance all round, and well liked by one of the piping judges, placing us 2nd, and ahead of the World Champions. July 1st 2001 saw Dartford win the Grade 4 All England Championship in Birmingham with an outstanding performance. Dartford eventually left the field with a total of 5 trophies (4 1st places and a 2nd place in Grade 3 drumming).

The season started in style at the quartets in Cranford on February 25th, with 1st, 3rd and 5th places. This was followed with 2nd and 3rd places in the mini-band competition, a 3rd place at Colchester, 4th at Banbury, 1st at Birmingham - and The All England Championships - a 4th at Corby and 4th at Ashbourne.

The band takes part in the majority of the competitions in the South East of England, however, the Cowal Games in Dunoon is normally the highlight of the competition season for the band.

The past years have seen the band perform at various fetes and carnivals. A highlight for the band was a trip to Perros Guirec, Brittany, to take part in a Celtic Festival.
