Florida's 11th Annual Vietnam Veterans Reunion
Schedule of Events

The Vietnam Veterans of Brevard will be hosting Florida's 11th Annual Vietnam Veterans Reunion, April 24-26, 1998, at beautiful Wickham Park in Melbourne, Florida. In conjunction with the reunion, the "Moving Wall" (the half scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D. C.) will be on display April 19-26, 1998. On Sunday, April 19th at 10:00 AM, the Memorial will have a Motorcycle Escort from Ramada Inn of Cocoa (900 Friday Road, Exit 76 off I-95) and should arrive at Wickham Park between 11:00 and 11:30 AM. There the VVB will have a Covered Dish Picnic at the back pavilions for those that come out to help set up the Memorial display. Hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks will be provided.

Opening Ceremony for the "Moving Wall" will take place at 7:00 PM, April 20th; all veterans, families and friends are invited to attend. this special ceremony will feature the Presentation of Colors, several distinguished speakers, a Rifle Salute and Taps. The Opening Ceremony will also include the laying of wreathes at the Wall. Anyone wishing to do so as part of the ceremony, please get with someone in charge at least 20 minutes before the ceremony so it can be announced with the rest. The Closing Ceremony will be held April 26th at 7:00 PM, and will end with a candle light vigil and candles placed at the Wall.

The purpose of the reunion is to honor the more than 58,000 men and women that gave their lives in the war. And to honor and "Welcome Home" those that have served their country. Friday evening, April 25th at 4:00 PM, we will kick off the Reunion with entertainment. The Opening Ceremony is at 11:00 AM on saturday at the Amphitheator. It will feature a Massing of the Colors and several distinguished speakers. The reunion will feature Live Music, Military Displays, vendors and Sunday morning church Services. Organizations wishing to participate in the Massing of the Colors need to be there no later than 10:300 AM for line up and instructions. A tentative schedule of events is listed below:
