                                                   The Exhaust Pipe

I bought the chrome tailpipe from the salvage yard for $20.  The tailpipe was from an 80 cc Yamaha 2 stroke of some sort, I never actually saw the bike it came from.  I was lucky in that the existing brackets on the tailpipe were in great places for me to bolt the pipe up to my ped.  The rear bracket bolts to my lower shock mount, and the front bracket could be bolted to the sidecover mounting hole (the front bracket is bent around the side of the tailpipe).  I cut the front of the new tailpipe off with a hacksaw and cut the existing muffler off so that there was enough of the existing head pipe to weld the new tailpipe to.  I had to cut up the handle bars from my spare moped to make a piece which would connect the existing head pipe and the new tailpipe.  Isaac welded it all up, and though the front section isn't pretty it improved the acceleration significantly and the top speed increased to 40-45 kph on the flats.  If you are looking for extra power and speed, get a tuned pipe like this one and weld it on.  With the baffles in this pipe, it is quieter than stock; with the baffles removed, it sounds like a honda civic with a loud muffler.
