    School Quotes

"I love N.C. State," Eddie Said in '97. "I've been loving watching the way they play together. That's my favorite kind of team to watch."
Shammond Williams: "Yeah, to be honest, I've gotten caught up in them. And you know why? It's because they're the long shot nobody really believed in. I've been in that situation a lot in my life, so I know what it's like. It's great to see what they're doing."

Miles Simon on UNC: "North Carolina has almost always been my favorite school," said Simon. "Carolina blue, anything with a hat or t-shirt that said North Carolina I was going to get my hands on."

Shammond on playing at Wake: "I don't even think I'm going to come back - even as a fan. Their fans are very supportive and they just go at you. It's a tough place to shoot, too. I don't know what it is - maybe it's the seats or something. It doesn't matter if we come in here No. 1, No. 2, No. 4 they always just smack us."

    For The Record..

Antawn Jamison is 15th in career scoring with 1,643 points. He is seventh alltime among Tar Heels who played just three seasons at Carolina. Rick Fox (1987-91) is 14th with 1,703 points and Billy Cunningham (1962-65) is 13th with 1,709 points.

Jamison is eighth at UNC in field goal percentage shooting at 58.6 percent. He is tied for ninth at UNC with 854 career rebounds. Pete Brennan also had 854 rebounds. Scott Williams (1986-90) is eighth with 861 boards and Rusty Clark (1966-69) is seventh with 929 rebounds. Jamison is tied for fourth in rebounds among UNC players who played just three years.

Shammond Williams is fourth alltime with 196 three-pointers. Hubert Davis (1988-92) is third with 197 and Jeff Lebo (1985-89) is third with 211. Williams is sixth in career free throw accuracy at 82.7 percent and is 16th in assists with 345. Williams is one of 46 Carolina players to score at least 1,000 points. He has 1,162 points which is 36th in UNC history.

Ed Cota ranks 11th at UNC with 400 assists in just 56 games. Last season, Cota came within one assist of tying the single-season assist record of 235 set by Kenny Smith in 1984-85. He needs 69 assists to reach that total this year.

Vince Carter ranks 43rd in career scoring at Carolina with 1,027 points.

Vince Carter became the 46th Tar Heel to score 1,000 points by posting 19 points against Florida State on Jan. 24. He is the third Tar Heel on the 1998 roster to score at least 1,000 career points. Shammond Williams and Antawn Jamison have already topped the 1,000-point barrier. This is the first year Carolina has had three 1,000-point scorers on the same team since the 1990 season when Scott Williams, Jeff Madden and Rick Fox each had over 1,000 points.
