The Red Wings had to tackle the Phoenix Coyotes in Round One of the 1998 Playoffs. The Coyotes had goalie Nikolai Khabibulin and rested their hopes of defeating the Stanley Cup champs on his shoulders. Unfortunately, his shoulders, and his groin, couldn't take the pressure and the Coyotes were defeated in 6 games.
