Here are some reminders to keep you alive in the urban jungle.

Obey traffic laws.  Don’t try to beat red lights or stop signs. Motorists are less likely to see a cyclist darting across the street.

Don’t ride against the flow of traffic. Again motorists are less likely to see you coming.

Avoid the inner lane. The inner lane was made for faster traffic. Staying in the inner lane may cause you to be hit from behind by a fast moving car.

Don’t ride too close to parked cars. A sudden opening of a door may spell disaster.

Wear bright clothing. This will help others see you better.

Slow down or stop at intersections. Diving into an intersection can cause an accident between you and a vehicle or person who does not see you coming.

Use hand signals. You should always inform the drivers around you of your intention to turn. A simple wave of a hand can spell the difference between life and death.
