 Going Downhill

Yeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhh.....Aaaaaahhh!

Okay, you’re on top of this hill with this really steep drop. What now? Well, there are two things you can do: 1. Chicken out and find another way down or 2. Think happy thoughts in mind and zip on down!

If you chose option 2, here’s what you should do:

  • Slowly move up to the edge.
  • Move your butt back passed the seat as far back as possible. Just avoid getting rubber marks on your shorts. This is to avoid going over the handlebars on the descent.
  • Use the brakes lightly. Suppress the urge to grab your levers. Unless you want to slingshot to the next town.
  • Control your direction with your weight. Don’t try to turn the wheel. You’ll just crash.
  • Remember to keep relaxed. It’s been said before. Stiffening up will only transmit the shock of bumps to your head and neck.
  • Let her rip!
  • When you crash, and you definitely will, get up  and go on.
