SaaP 2003 + 12 months of free upgrades/updates/expansions for $US12.50 (approx 9 Pounds)

The Internet allows the developers of computer software to work directly with users to achieve a low-cost, low delay, interactive, world-wide distribution service. Third party costs (publisher, retailer even taxman) can be eliminated, software and upgrades/updates/bug fixes can be delivered within hours of completion of testing, users in any part of the world can take advantage of this service and user feedback can directly influence development and error elimination.

So, instead of paying US$40/50 or so for SaaP through the stores, I've set up SaaP Online to make maximum use of these advantages. You get a quality of service that could never be contemplated offline at a significantly lower price than store-bought software. It allows us to develop the game continuously and supply the upgrades to you within hours of completion of testing.

When you purchase SaaP for just $US25.00 you receive the original stand-alone game and then updates, upgrades, expansions (usually every 4/5 weeks) for as long as you wish. For half that - $US12.50 - you receive these upgrades for a full 12 months after your subscription. If you think "as long as you wish" may not be that long, SaaP has been in development for 19 years now and I see no reason why it won't go on for another 19 years or more.

And, thanks to the Internet, this applies to anyone, anywhere in the world.

Here's the way it works in detail:

You subscribe to SaaP Online on our secure web page by credit/debit card for $US25/12.50 (we fix the price in US dollars and the credit card company converts to your own local currency at our expense). You receive a copy of the latest SaaP 2003 to download immediately after completing the form. This will run for 7 days (no need to be online) while we confirm the card details.

On confirmation, usually within 24 hours, you receive a "Welcome to SaaP Online" email and attachment which removes the 7 day limit. This email gives you details of the SaaP Online Members' website where you can download graphic expansions for the game, earlier versions of SaaP, a version of Supremo 99 (for DOS), a copy of the classic gridiron game Headcoach and, of course, a copy of the game itself. All games work offline.

Each month you receive a Newsletter that describes the progress of new developments in SaaP. Every 4 or 5 weeks or so, depending on the complexity of the new features, an upgrade of SaaP is uploaded to the members' website and a members-only email sent out informing you. You can download the upgrade and add to your game whenever you wish.

Usually the upgrade is done in such a way that you can install it and continue your game without interference. Just occasionally the upgrade will require you to start a new game to take advantage of it. In that case, if you wish to retain your current game, you download the complete new game and install on your PC in a different folder. There's no limit to how many times you can install a game. You can then continue your old game and start a new one simultaneously.

The full membership of SaaP Online entitles the subscriber to receive these upgrades indefinitely, the 12 month membership for the subsequent 12 months.

While the Internet has the distinct advantages mentioned above, there is one major deficiency - that many users still have slow modem access. We have overcome this by using a very efficient development system to produce compact code that can be distributed without the delays that would plague other games. Code in SaaP is typically only 5% of equivalent Windows code (bloatware?) from other development systems. In addition, some graphic elements have been separated out so that they can be downloaded separately and added whenever it suits you. The game runs perfectly well without these elements but there's more atmosphere with them.

Download time for a fully working game is around 10 minutes even with a 33k modem connection.

Another advantage of this efficient code is that the game positively flies compared with other games with similar size databases. Even when running 7 leagues the maximum delay on a 100 Mhz, 16 Mbyte RAM PC is only 8 seconds!

The lifetime SaaP Online subscription and SaaP CDROM can also be obtained off-line in the UK, USA or Australia. Click here to get information of addresses, telephones, faxes etc.

But quickest and cheapest is our secure online subscription/ordering site that will allow you to subscribe/order using your web browser and take the game away with you immediately.

Minimum Game Requirements: Windows 95, 100 Mhz Pentium, 16 Mbytes of RAM, 30 Mbytes disk storage, 16 bit colour depth.

The game works on Win 95, Win 98, Win ME, Win NT, Win 2000 and Windows XP.
