Challenges

Challenges must be made using the challenge form. Challenges are only official when posted on the challenge page. Sending an email to WEBA is acceptable if you can't reach the challenge form for some reason.

Challenges to Russian boxers with winning records and in your own weight class will AUTOMATICALLY be accepted. WEBA may however limit the number of times that any boxer can fight a particular Russian in non-title action.

On its regular cards, WEBA will sanction fights between any two WEBA boxers whose weights differ by no more than 20 lbs. Boxers who want to fight at a bigger weight differential can do so in special "grudge matches".

You can have only ONE challenge in the system at a time! If you make multiple challenges, the last one made will be used for matchmaking (except that once a challenge is accepted and a match is made, it will not be broken).

When scheduling fights, WEBA may limit the number on each card. In that case the most competitive matches (by closeness in the WEBA rankings) have priority once any matches held over from the previous card are scheduled. Long-shot challenges (according to the rankings) will be fought when accepted by both boxers but are more likely to be held over to a later card than challenges between closely-ranked boxers. Held-over challenges get top priority on the next card.

WEBA may also favor matches that showcase "home talent" if cards are held at a particular venue.

Once a challenge has been accepted, neither boxer is allowed to back out of it!

Non-performance

Boxers who do not respond to challenges for 60 days will be dropped from the league unless their player requested a furlough by email to wibahome@yahoo.com. Furloughs will always be given if requested. The purpose of this rule is solely to prevent boxers who stop responding to challenges without contacting WEBA from making it hard for other boxers to get fights.

Prize Money

All fights offer prize money at these rates:
Win by KO = $20,000
Win by TKO = $20,000
Win by Unanimous Decision = $20,000
Win by Split Decision = $10,000
Winner by DQ = $10,000
DRAW                        = $7,000
Loser by Split Decision = $5,000
Loser by Unanimous Decision = $3,000
Loser by KO or TKO = $1,000
Loser by DQ = $0
Additional prize money is available at title fights (below).

Titles

There are three titles in each of four weight classes: Middleweight, Welterweight, Lightweight and Featherweight.

The WEBA Junior title in each class is open only to WEBA boxers with less than 40 WEBA fights. These titles are meant to recognize, and help develop, able WEBA newcomers.

The WEBA title in each weight class is open to all WEBA boxers in that weight class (but not to the Russian team).

The World title in each weight class is open to all boxers, including the Russians, within that weight class. No other title can be on the line in a World title fight (to avoid triple bonus payouts).

No fighter may hold more than one title at a time. A fighter who wins a second title gets that title's prize money, but she must then vacate one of her two titles.

All title fights pay bonuses on top of the regular prize money:

Junior Middle, Welter, Light or Featherweight Title
Win Title = $10,000
Successfully defend title = $3,000
Draw at Title Fight = $2,000
Lose at Title Fight = $1,000
DQ at Title Fight = $0

WEBA Middle, Welter, Light or Featherweight Title
Win Title = $10,000
Successfully defend title = $5,000
Draw at Title Fight = $4,000
Lose at Title Fight = $3,000
DQ at Title Fight = $0

World Middle, Welter, Light or Featherweight Title
Payout as for WEBA regular title, then double it! (maximum $60,000!)

In addition to these weight-based titles, there may be other special titles.

Russian boxers are not eligible for regular or junior WEBA titles (only for the World titles).

Training

Except for special occasions which will be announced, boxers in training must sit out one card per point added in training, or one card per retraining session if retraining.

Retraining

WEBA allows fighters who are on big losing streaks to retrain, i.e. to move a few points around in their boxer setups, keeping the overall points totals in Parts 2 and 3 the same. The idea is that fighters who are having a hard time of it can try something inexpensive to compensate for their worst problems without adding to their overall points totals.

A boxer qualifies for retraining if she loses four fights in row, or is she goes six fights without a win (e.g. three losses and three draws, in any order).

Retraining is done by email to WEBA, but the price schedule is simpler: $10,000 for each point moved within Part 2 of the setup, $5,000 for each point moved within Part 3. Other than the costs, there are no restrictions on how many points are moved during a retraining session. Boxers who retrain must sit out one card while doing it.

Starting Boxers

Starting boxers must make a basic setup using the WEBA form, and following the instructions given there. Once this has been accepted, they will be invited to do $400,000 worth of further training. Note that the setup form sets a points limit in Part 2 of the setup, but not a dollar limit. It therefore pays to "load up" on the more expensive Part 2 points in your initial setup, then use the signing bonus to buy less expensive ones!

Starting boxers must also select a picture to represent their boxer and provide a short role-play biography fpr her. The picture selection is here. Bios can be sent with the boxer setup or separately by email to WEBA.

Transition Rules

The starting boxers now get a sign-on bonus of $400,000, but will use the new rates for Part 3 points in their setups. These new rules eliminate cheap starter points that we used to have in Part 3 ... "3 for 50,000", then "1 for 20,000" and "1 for 25,000" before Part 3 points became 30,000 each. So the first 5 points in Part 3 used to cost $95,000 and will now cost $150,000. The $400,000 bonus that newcomers get now is the equivalent of a $345,000 bonus for the more established boxers.

The last four boxers who registered got only a $250,000 bonus under the old rules. They will be given an extra $35,000 to bridge the difference between the old rules and the new, as well as the $60,000 "extra height" bonus for all presently registered boxers who have earned under $1 million.

"Extra Height" points are now available as a one-time option at $30,000 per point, up to a maximum of four per boxer. New boxers must include these in their setup, and cannot adjust them afterwards. Existing boxers will also have a one-time chance to add "extra height" points. Those who have earned under $1 million so far will also be given a one-time $60,000 allowance which may be used for two "extra height" points, or accumulated for other training as the player prefers. All existing boxers will also have a one-time chance to swap Part 3 points for "extra height" points.

All previously registered boxers with earnings over $1 million will be allowed to retrain free once in order to trade existing points for extra height points if they wish. This can only be done once and must be done by trading an existing part 3 point for an extra height point.
