2000 Game 13 Summary

January 9, 2000 - The Vienna Warhawks 13 Year Old Boys County Select Team beat Arlington 72-48 to remain undefeated in the Fairfax County Youth Basketball League.

The Warhawks had a slow start. Arlington was getting good shots against the man to man defense and converting. Before things got out of hand, Vienna switched to a 3-2 zone that forced Arlington to stay outside. This also seemed to ignite Vienna's offense. The Warhawks took a commanding 36-21 lead into half time.

Vienna stayed with the zone defense in the second half and continued to dominate offensively as well. The Warhawks passed the ball well recording 25 assists. They also had 11 steals that produced some quick points. Vienna held the ball almost the entire last 3 minutes of the game, running their 4 corner offense.

Chris McNerney led the Warhawks in scoring with 16 points, followed by Brent Locey (14), Brendan Hanifin (9) and Sawyer Sams (9). Derek Feussner and Scott Harootyan each had 5 assists.

Vienna improves its record to 13-0 with the win. The next game is scheduled for January 16th against Mt Vernon at Edison HS at 1:00pm. The Locey's have the snack. Go Warhawks!
