After the Mets felt they needed RHP Greg McMichael back, the only way to get him was to trade away LHP Brian Bohannon, he later left the Dodgers to sign a 3 year 9 million dollar contract with the Colorado Rockies.
1999 Outlook
After shuttling back and forth for 12 years between the minors and the majors, both as a starter and reliever, Bohanon made great use of his opportunity in 1998. The Dodgers wanted to re-sign him as a free agent, but the Rockies landed him with a three-year, $9 million contract. |

After the Mets got Willie Blair, they knew that they could not have a spot starter with a high salary, so the Mets decided to trade him and his salary to Detroit for Joe Randa. Randa ofcourse would not be able to play the hot corner with the Mets because of the powerful Robin Ventura was traded for a Juan Gonzalez type hitter Juan Le Bron
1999 Outlook
Blair returned to Detroit, the scene of his 16-win season, in a December trade for Joe Randa. Despite his ups and downs of the last two years, Blair really is the same pitcher he always has been. He's not nearly as good as he looked in 1997, nor nearly as bad as he looked last year. |
