Let us introduce the team Owners for FFL '05 in order of their finish for the 2004 season.

In 1st place, and the Couchardi Trophy winner, was ...
Jon Schrantz with his Union. A Wisconsin denizen, he once had been in 5th place for so many seasons he lost track of the Fifth Place Trophy! He also lost track of his semi-winning ways and slipped to 6th place in '00, and then to 7th in '01, back in the money with a 4th place finish in '02, and then another 6th place . . . and now this!

Mike O'Shei is our newest Owner, a rookie last season. Second place was a darn respectable finish! Mike hails from Buffalo, New York and is, reportedly, a big Bills fan. We'll see if his team is as cold as those Buffalo winters or hot as arson. It might be a "match" for anybody!

Dave "The Commish" Fagerland and his Legion
XIII slipped from the "Glory Spot" in 2003, another Couchardi Trophy year for them, but dropped a couple notches in the '04 season, even though they scored more points than anyone else. They also had the most scored against them, too. This season it's version XIV carrying the Legion banner.

Dennis Fekert in the fourth year campaigning his own Mad River Ratts, the runners-up the year before, sank a notch to third place in '03, then to fourth in '04. Mad River is somewhere in the hills of Vermont, where maple syrup is king. Will '05 be a "sweet" season for them? The trend doesn't look good.

Dorothy "Dottie" Groose usually keeps her Italian Bootalion in the thick of the fray, having won it all in 1996, and nearly winning in 2000.  The franchise, from Naples, FL (not Naples, Italy) moved to 4th place from 9th place the year before, but then we only campaigned eight teams in '03, so 9th would have been a
really poor showing. Fifth place in '04 still got her back into the money, though.

Don Tiegs enters his sophomore year with his new team, Fire, which joined the League for the '04 season, but Don is hardly a "rookie," having co-owned the Union for a few years. (Sure, NOW they win the Championship!!) Don is a fireman in Wisconsin, so the name "Fire" for his team was a natural. Whether it can be a hot team or not will soon be known. He and his wife produced a little mascot for the Fire over last summer.

David "Davie the Kid" Groose and his Big Pac Attack are based in Chicago. In 2001, the Couchardi Trophy went on his mantel, but a repeat was not to in the cards for the next two years. They moved up a notch to 7th place in '04 after their 8th place finish in '03, with an asterisk (*) since it was the season we played only eight teams.

Gary Groose, and his Miami Machismos, perennial contenders, have had the Championship Trophy on their T.V. set in Miami, FL (after the '97 season) so they know what it's like to be at the top. They'll no doubt make a run to get back there again this year. Second place, and now EIGHTH place will not make the lad happy.

Kent Fagerland's Hooligans, playing out of Mill Creek, WA, do have the best cheerleaders (The "HOOters") but they haven't had much to cheer FOR lately. They were in the money for 2001, but there's no reward for their 8th and 7th place finishes, or especially this 9th place finish in '04.

Kurt Kummerfeldt is campaigning with a new team for the '05 Season (Central Coast Crushers) since he moved from L.A. up the coast to Solvang, CA, where he has opened his "Epicurean Picnic" store right on the main drag through town. Oh, the ignominy of it all. His old L.A. Militia won it all in 2002, but it's tough to repeat in this League, and they did not! Fifth place in '03, then the cellar in '04. Woe is he!

And there they are! Truly a pathetic group of Sofa Spuds.
