Week #14    Jon did his make-up synopsis:
_________________________________________________

Greetings from frigid Wisconsin, where the cold has officially moved to the scoreboard of the Packers. Looks like Bart, er Brett, Farve really wants to play with Reggie Bush next year. Enough of the real stuff.

Seems like no one wants to actually discuss the scores of the FFL anymore. Talk about birds and bees and partridges in pear trees seems to be the latest trend out west. Apparently that has not moved eastward yet. Maybe next year…

First and foremost, the Union would like to congratulate the ARS for their win against the PAX. That PAX loss moves the UNIs up to 1st place. Thanks to a Ravens fumble return late in the Monday game, the ARSs scored enough points to move ahead of the PAX for the week and win!!!

Then the UNI go from a 67 point week to a measly 30 but still notch another W. With the UNIs relying on the Colts for most of their points, the owner is
very worried about next week. Maybe the question could be asked of Dungy: "Are you going to rest your starters?". I don't think that has been asked of him in the last 30 minutes.

The FIRs came alive again this week with a nice win thanks to a RB he refused to trade. Still sitting in 3rd place, the FIRs have asked the UNIs if they can be a co-owner again to reap the rewards since all the UNI has done since defecting is win championships.

Saving the best game for now (not necessarily last), the Legion decided now was the time to begin a run for the title, posting a 29 LP win for the week. Seems like his focus should be more on a run for the money places than a run for the title.

The HOOS bowed to the MACHs to split the season series 1-1. This will keep the MACHs right on the Legion's heels for that lustrous 5th pace finish.

Season's Greeting, Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah... Whatever you say, I say it too!!

Thanks, Jon!!!

           WEEK 14 HEROS
QB  12  Palmer, C. CIN (FIR) Hasselbeck, M. SEA (PAX)
RB  16  Barber, T. NYG (FIR)
WR 14  Smith, S. (XIV)
TE  14  Heap, T. BAL (FIR)
K    10  Wilkins, J. STL (MACH)  Reed, J. PIT (PAX)
D      6  Ravens BAL (ARS)

The top 4 places have passed the 500-point scoring total, BATs still to break 400. FIR with the fewest points (381) scored against them, HOOs taking the biggest beating with 566 points against (10 more than CCCs).

The XIVs sneaked back over the .500 mark (and back into the money places) with a 50-21 Ho-Hum win over the nearly winless Crushers. The early 26 points from Dillon and Anderson on Saturday set the pace. The "Guru" predicted this to be a two-point squeaker for the Roman Numerals. Doh!

The real squeaker was the 39-37 nail-biter win by the ARS over the (previously) League-Leading PAX. The N.T.Arson left QB Mark Brunell WAS, and his 4 TD passes, 16 point day on their bench, but still eked out a narrow (39-37) win to halt their losing streak. FIR has the longest current streak with four wins in a row now, but missed the chance for 29.5 LPs for tying high score and a place on the Heros list.

The HOOs lost again (3 in a row now) when they got no production from their #1 Draft Pick, LaDanian Tomlinson, who went out hurt in the Bolts upset of the Colts.

Colts lost - and so did the scalpers in Seattle. Who would pay, now, $900 (the price LAST WEEK) for a seat to watch the Indianapolis back-ups play at Qwest Field next week?? Even if it IS a Super Bowl preview?? Don't you just hate it when your stud fantasy guy is in his baseball cap on the sidelines laughing and scratching . . . while your Fantasy team goes down the crapper - always the story of the last few weeks of the season as teams who have clinched begin to rest their stars.

It was sad to watch Monday nite as super-star Brett Favre tried (unsuccessfully) to carry his Packers while the rest of the team barely went through the motions in a 48-3 embarrassment at Baltimore, playing like half-hearted, on-field spectators. And, saddest of all, we may have watched the man who holds or is second only to Dan Marino in all the QB records they keep, play his last game. Thanks, Bayou Boy Brett, for a long, unbroken, run of quarterbacking excellence. Whenever you DO walk away we'll miss you!

Maybe Jon should wait until the Commish sends him the official stats. It is the RATs, not the MACHs, that are "right on the Legion's heels." And it's 4th Place they are now contending for, not 5th. Only the bottom 3 teams (BATs, ARSs and CCCs) have been mathematically eliminated from the 2005 Couchardi Trophy race, so it's too soon to talk about settling for other in-the-money places.

Once again the PICK 'EM Standings are just a short scroll below. The first 7 weeks are left off because the table is too wide for this page. It almost looks like the bottom seven have given up (or they all had a forgetful lapse and forgot to play Last Week).

And THAT'S THE WAY IT WAS LAST WEEK!
