AMA- History

HISTORY Abbottonians Medical Association (formerly Abbottonians Medical Aid) is the social wing of Abbottonians Old Boys Association (AOBA) . It was founded on 2nd March 1990. The decision to establish this wing was made by the Executive Council of AOBA (NWFP Chapter) in its meeting on 2nd March 1990 at the Shimla Hotel, Abbottabad, keeping in view the popular demand of both the old boys and teachers of Abbottabad Public School & College. The founding members of AMA included the following:

1- Mr. Nazir Ahmad (Ex- President AOBA)
2- Mr. Tanveer Afzal (President AOBA NWFP Chapter)
3- Dr. Abdul Aziz Awan (Chairman AMA)
4- Dr. Mehmood Alam (Member AOBA )
5- Dr. Noaman Siddiqui (Chief Organiser AMA)
6- Dr. Ejaz Afzal (Ward lncharge & Member AOBA)
7- Mr. Khurshid Ahmad (Ex- Chief Organiser AMA)
8- Mr. Bahram Bashir Khan (Secretary AOBA NWFP Chapter)
9- Mr. Syed lkram Bukhari (Treasurer AOBA NWFP Chapter)
10- Mr. Faheem Mohammad (Member AOBA)

In the meeting held on 25th August 1995, a Board of Directors of Abbottonians Medical Association was formed. From the founding members of Abbottonians Medical Aid, five members were inducted in the Board along with the Principal, Vice Principal. two Ex-Principals of APS & C and a few senior members of AOBA, NWFP Chapter.

The Board of Directors of AMA comprises of the following:

1- Mr. Hasan Badr-ud-Din Khan, Patron-in-Chief (Principal APS & C)
2- Mr. Majid Husain Siddiqui (Ex-Principal APS & C)
3- Mr. S.S. Zulqarnain (Ex-Principal APS & C)
4- Mr. Basharat Ahmad (Vice Principal APS & C)
5- Prof. M.A. Khaliq (Principal Ayub Medical College)
6- Mr. Sardar Munawar Zaman (President AOBA Central Chapter)
7- Mr. Nazir Ahmad (Ex- President AOBA Central Chapter)
8- Mr. Tanveer Afzal (President NWFP Chapter)
9- Maj. (Retd.) Tariq Mehmood (Member AOBA)
10- Mr. Aurangzeb Azmat (Member AOBA)
11- Dr. Abdul Aziz Awan (Chairman AMA)
12- Dr. Noaman Siddiqui (Chief Organiser AMA)

Prof. Nazakat Begum, Administrator Ayub Medical Hospital Complex and Head of Deptt. Gynae./Obs. was nominated as Advisor AMA, and Dr. Huma Jadun, Assist. Prof., Deptt. of Community Medicine, Ayub Medical College was nominated as the lncharge Ladies Section of AMA.

In this meeting it was unanimously decided to change the name of Abbottonians Medical Aid to Abbottonians Medical Association, so as to make it broad based. AMA has now the following wings:

Blood Donation.

LITERARY WING: Lectures on Important Health Topics
Annual Debate
Quiz Competitions
Art / Photo Exhibitions.

SPORTS WING: Car Rally at Abbottonians' Reunion/AGM
AMA Olympics / Inter-College Fixtures
Swimming Gala at APS & C.

SOCIAL/CULTURAL WING: Environmental Protection
