White Water Rafting

As you can see in the picture, I got tossed in the first rapids. I was in the very front and hadn't secured myself well enough, so I ended up two rows back! The rafting itself was a lot of fun. I was not such a fan of the body surfing part (aka. controlled drowning) since I was one of the few people who got sucked into an eddy current and exhausted myself before getting hauled out of the water. The others mostly got spit out of the rapids closer to shore.
We went with Wilderness tours. Pretty drive up. Traffic was light, we left early. Was impressed to arrive and find Mike and Allison drinking La Fin Du Monde and Konig! Good beer is always nice to see. Our fearless group leader Luis has been organizing trips with them for a few years now, this was my first time joining the group. The facilities were great, as was the food, yumm! Had a lot of fun with everyone who went, met a lot of new people. (Luis had a group of 52 people!) Extra thanks especially to the Acquaahs, Jenn and Paul, who provided my sunstroked and exhausted self with pain killers and an air mattress on Saturday night! I went from cranky and agony back to normal after a good nights sleep! Lessons learned - drink lots of fluids, and wear sunscreen!!!
Kicked butt at giant chess and headed out, pulled a quick u-turn two minutes later when I realized I forgot my picture in the dining hall, luckily I retrieved it! My pictures all suck (combination of using the wrong film and not paying careful enough attention. ) so I am not going to bother scanning them. Many more things happened that I am too lazy to write about.
