Euphoria--House of Fun!

That was the theme of Open House of college for the last year before the millenium, a project undertaken very seriously by all the 14 junior colleges in Singapore. After all, it is a day when all graduating secondary four students can have a chance to visit their potential school.  

The day of 16 Ocober 1999 dawned bright and clear, and all of us heaved a sigh of relief. This meant that our hard work the night before (which lasted until morning!) putting up numerous banners had not gone to waste. We could almost feel it in our bones--Open House was going to be a success!

As the secondary school students made their way through the gates of VJC, they were ushered in by the Year Ones, all ready to promote their beloved college to the rest of the world. Souvenirs consisting of CD-cases (contributed generously by the school population) and specially-designed paper bags were received with exclamations of delight by the guests, who could hardly make their way through the overcrowded ECA booths.

The finale of the Open House was a dance put up by the Council, and mass dances led by the entire school cohort. Although it is inevitable that not all the students who had visited us during Open House will end up in Victoria, we are quite sure that our exuberating spirit has not failed to awe them.
