DUBAI

SHEIKHDOM OF DUBAI

The region of Dubai was a dependency of Abu Dhabi until 1833 when the Al Abu Falasa clan of the Banu Yas tribe seized power and declared its independence. Dubai was a signatory of the treaties of 1835, 1843 and 1853 and became a British protectorate - subject to the residency of the Persian Gulf - in 1892. __________________________________________________________________________________
