CEBU, NOME DE GESU

The Diocese of Cebu, Nome de Gesu was erected as a suffragan of Manila in 1595 (1) It became an Archdiocese in 1934. (1) The Diocese of Cebu perhaps was the most important of the Philippine jurisdictions as : - it also covered the Mariana Islands (including Guam) until 1902. - it was in charge of the missions in the southern Islamic Moro Lands until 1910, when a separate Diocese of Zamboanga was erected for these regions.
