This model is a hand launch glider called the "Gnome". The Gnome is a good flier, both in thermals and on the slope.
I have tried geared Speed 400 7.2V (11x7 folder), direct drive Speed 400 7.2V (6x3 folder) and Speed 400 6V (6x3 folder) also direct drive. Power comes from 7 Sanyo 500AR.
I like the direct drive Speed 400 7.2V best. It gives the Gnome the best gliding performance and good climb. Still air time reaches 10 minutes with geared motor, 9 minutes with direct drive 7.2V and 6 minutes with 6V motor.
