On Labor Day, rather than go out and play in traffic, we had a nice little get-together at Barbara’s Place. Kinda dressed down and comfortable, a little patio picnic…
Beverly chillin’ out in shorts.
Angela lolling on the ottoman…
A little guitar man…
A serenade for Joney and Lynn…
Karen and Joney…
…and Beverly, while Lynn kept a close eye on the burgers and dogs on the grill.
Then it was time to git down to some serious eating. My wife had gone all out to make a feast of fresh fruit and deviled eggs and salads and scrumptious Carolina tomatoes and dips with Utz potato chips. Hey! I grew up on Utz.
A little dinner music à la Lynn
What could be better !
Ummmmmmmm… A little more jammin’
*smile*
Living here in Raleigh, North Carolina, is so special in so many ways. This is a beautiful place. The rolling hills of the piedmont, the flowering trees, the lovely shrubs, and expanses of lush, sweet grasses… the people, gentle in their manner, gracious in their hospitality, openly friendly and congenial.
Everyone smiles and says, “Hi. How you this mornin?”
And then, they listen. Did you have fun last evening. They smile that you had such a fine time and
they’re happy to know.
Somethin’ unfortunate happen. They are genuinely sorry to hear that and quick to inquire if there is anything
they can do to help.
Folks here become friends at the drop of a hat.
It’s really nice.
There might be a nicer place to live than Carolina.
But I can’t imagine where that would be.
No matter. I’m a Carolina girl now!
