Out and About with Barbara Richards!

~*  Out and About in Raleigh and North Carolina  *~

Raleigh is the capital of North Carolina.  It’s a cosmopolitan city and everyone here are friendly and congenial.  Folks here say good morning and are just a likely to stop for a moment to chat.  There are lots of things to do and places to go and, of course, malls.  My favorite is Crabtree Mall.  It’s got everything a girl could ask for: four department stores, a hundred shops, including Victoria’s Secret, two levels of promenades and a food court.

It’s been a while since Patrice helped me with my makeup, and I just don’t seem to be able to get my eyes right.  So, I did the only sensible thing, I called Merle Norman.  I told the young woman who answered the phone that I was a crossdresser and asked if it would be a problem for me to come in for a consultation and a makeover.  No problem at all she said,  and so this morning I was off to Crabtree Mall.

So, if you’re wanting some professional help with your makeup or if you want to get your nails done and you don’t know of a transgender place nearby, just pick up the phonebook and make a few calls.  Tell them who you are and what you’d like.  This is the nineties and lots of salons will welcome you and the other patrons won’t mind.  They may smile, but if they do, just smile back and you’ll both have fun.

Anyway, I barely made it to my appointment on time, owing to a last minute fiasco with my nails, but I made it.

Heather didn’t seem to mind and welcomed me with a bright cheerful smile.  And then she taught me the finer points of doing eyes just so and a little while later I walked out of there with a bag full of goodies and much prettier blue eyes.

Heather took these of me when she was done.  The portraits behind me are samples of the portrait studio’s work.  I thought about a sitting, but it was a little too pricy for me…  darn, but the seed has been planted.

After I left Merle Norman I strolled around the mall for an hour or so and had a nice lunch of General Tsao’s Chicken.  I think General Tsao must be related to General Gao.  Anyway, it was scrumptious.

Then, I went home and naturally took some pictures.  They’re on page 10 of my Photo Album, if you’d like to see them.

Another super place to go is The Perfect Image.  It’s a costume shoppe where a girl can find just the right wedding gown, bridesmaid’s gown or southern belle gown.  Giggle…  And who wouldn’t love to be the belle of the ball!
