Technology has arrived to the foreign language classroom to help
overcome the isolation that students feel when not immerse in
the culture of the language under study. TV, VCR, Videodisc players,
cassette players, computers, LCD panels and others are part of
the enormous array of technology that will help to make this happen.
The school district, teacher, parents, students, and the community
in general need to work together in order to achieve the best
of the success. Money, training, personal sacrifices, collaborative
work and willingness to help each other are key concepts related
to this enterprise. Educators are definitely the key players
on this game. They need to be enthusiastic and understand that
they, as well as the students, will largely benefit when technology
is integrated into the classroom.
This is a new way of teaching; therefore it is going to change
and improve every time that someone decides to experiment with
it. Continuos evaluation of the activity and feedback from the
students will help teachers identify areas where things can be
improved. Teachers helping teachers will definitely make the
work easier for themselves. Just make it happen!
