The Poetry Link Page

"I hear cyberspace singing
The varied carols I hear..."

If you love poetry (as I do) or hate it (you poor misguided soul!) I hope you find some links here that will show you that poetry can be both serious and fun. I don't think there's a genre as alive and vigorous as poetry is today. This is particularly true out here in Cyberspace. Here today and gone tomorrow. So against a sea of ever failing links here are some sites that I think will be around for some time to come:

Poetry Magazine

http://www.poetrymagazine.com
This is THE most prestigious avenue for poetry publishing in the United States and has been since 1912. Now available on the WEB, it is the place to find the works of poets who will be remembered and enjoyed beyond their years.

The American Academy of Poets
http://www.poets.org
This site has wonderful poems, links, and helpful information if you are a would-be poet or just someone who enjoys poetry.

Poetry Daily
http://www.poems.com
A Poem a Day keeps the therapist away! Here's a fun site that offers a different poem every day. The quality can be a bit uneven, but it's always fun to see what's posted.

A Page of Poetry Links
http://www.alabanza.com/kabacoff/Inter-Links/library/poetry.html

As much as I don't like offering a page of links, this one is worthwhile. The page doesn't overwhelm you with links, but it is selective and puts up some that I think you will find very useful.

Spam Haiku
http://pemtropics.mit.ecu/~jcho/spam
This is THE site for the Spam Haiku. Didn't even know it existed, huh? Try it, you'll like it. (The Haiku that is)

Science Fiction Haiku
http://www.crew.umich.edu/~brinck/poetry/manifesto.html
I love this site and its various links! The haiku is very high quality and a wonderful match between an ancient form and modern or future thought.

Golden Age Spanish Sonnets (with translations!)

http://ingber.spanish.sbc.edu/SonnetTexts/Sonnets.html

I think you'll find many of these poems useful for your poetry project. If not, I'm sure you'll let me know!

The Poetry of Elias Letelier

http://www.letelier.com

I must admit that I am not familar with this Chilean poet who is living in Canada. However, his poetry is available in English,French & Spanish, so you should find this page helpful.
