Welcome to the Leo Mores Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. It is the student chapter at Iowa State University. It dates back to 1911. The chapter is named after Leo Mores, long-time publisher of the newspaper in Harlan, Iowa, and an ISU alumnus.

SPJ Region VII Conference: The 2008 Region VII Conference will be held at the Iowa State Center's Scheman Building on April 4-5. Keynote speaker is WOI Radio's own Dr. Politics, Steffen Schmidt. The keynote speech and Mark of Excellence Awards luncheon will be in Scheman 250-252. Also on the bill are Des Moines Register editor Carolyn Washburn and Iowa AP correspondent Mike Glover. Clint Brewer, SPJ president, and Dave Aeikens, SPJ president elect, will also be on hand. Visions of Freedom: Speaking to a crowd of just under 100 in The Gallery of the MU on Jan. 31, Barbara Mack, associate professor of journalism, challenged students to question and test their government, "to think and to realize that the vision of freedom we may have really tests our ability to envision who we are as citizens."
