Filozofia Nauki (Philosophy of Science) is a quarterly published by the Institute of Philosophy, Warsaw University in cooperation with the Foundation for Transdisciplinary Research on Communication. The quarterly was founded in 1993 by Zdzislaw Augustynek (the Head of the Advisory Board), Jacek Juliusz Jadacki (Editor-in-Chief), Tomasz Bigaj and Anna Lissowska-Wojtowicz (editors). Philosophy of Science publishes articles, notes and reviews covering the whole range of scientific philosophy, including epistemology, ontology, philosophy of language, philosophical logic, semiotics, praxeology, and cognitive sciences. We invite papers not only from profesional philosophers, but also from specialists in different areas, interested in generalizing their scientific experiences towards more foundational issues. The main goal of the founders of Philosophy of Science was to create a forum for the interchange of ideas between philosophers and philosophically-oriented scientists.

Thinking about the future, we do not forget about the past. Philosophy of Science would like to promote the Polish tradition of analytical philosophy, known as Lvov-Warsaw School. Therefore we introduced to our journal the section "Archives" in which rare texts written by our greater ancestors are published. In such a way we presented to the public otherwise difficult to obtain papers by Jan Lukasiewicz, Stanislaw Lesniewski, Kazimierz Twardowski, Roman Ingarden and others.

As this is basically Polish-written journal, we publish mainly texts by Polish authors. However, a small number of translated papers from abroad has also appeared. We are also considering including papers written in English, if they are available. As for now the reader not knowing Polish language may get the idea of what our quarterly is about by having a look at abstracts in English. One of the attempts to fill this gap and to make our quarterly more accessible to the non-Polish audience, is this web page which you are currently reading.

Among our authors are such well-known scholars as Marian Przelecki, Czeslaw Lejewski, Ryszard Wojcicki, Jan Wolenski, Michal Heller, Jerzy Perzanowski, Jozef Misiek, Barry Smith, and Pascal Engel
