Introduction
"乞食は夜泣く" A Begger Cries in the Night. Painted by Kamachi Yamada
1977年8月10日
山田かまちという17歳の少年が
自宅の２階でエレキギターに感電して
亡くなりました。
天才的な画家で、詩人でもありました。
A seventeen-year boy called Kamachi Yamada was electrocuted
by the guitar in his own Tatami room.
He was a genius painter and a poet.
かまちは1960年7月21日に群馬県の高崎市に生まれました。
1歳半ばからすらすらと絵を描く子供で、スバル３６０を
どの角度からも容易に描いていたようです。
Kamachi was born on July 21st, 1960 in Takasaki city, Gunma Prefecture, Japan.
He began to draw pictures when he was a half and a year. Especially Subaru 360 (a Japan-made car)
was his favorite and he could draw it from every angle.
小学校も低学年になると、
お母さんが通信教育の勉強で忙しいのに注意を向けたくて、
自作の詩をすらすらと言い始めます。
母親の千鶴子さんの勧めでそれをノートに書き留め始めました。
By the time he was in the 1st or 2nd grader, he tried to cite his poem
to get his mother's attention. Then, he started to write them down on his mother's advice.
小学校3年生の冬休み、
宿題の動物画を1時間のうちに30点描き上げます。
動物図鑑など見ず、動物園にも行かず、
動物の意識を一瞬のうちに自分の物にして描き上げたようです。
その、今にも動き出しそうな画の迫力は、
かまちのとてつもない才能を強く感じさせられます。
On winter vacation in the third grade,
he drew 30 pictures of animals within one hour without observing.
He could draw them with his instinct for the animals. His talent was incredible.
中学3年の頃から、ロックに傾倒し始めます。
ビートルズ、レッド・ツェッペリン、エアロ・スミス、クィーンなど、
ステレオを抱きかかえるようにして、聞いていました。
友達（元BＯΦＷＹの氷室京介など）とバンド活動もし始めます。
Kamachi began to devote himself to Rock music when he was in the 9th grade.
He was listening to "The Beatles," "Led Zeppelin," "Aero Smith," "Queen," and so on...
with holding his stereo set in his arms. He made a rock band with his friends since then.
高校受験の頃、偏差値というシステムに納得がいかず、
試験用紙を紙飛行機にして飛ばす、という小さな反逆を起こします。
To rebel against Japanese testing system, he made a paper plane with a test paper
and flew it in the middle of the exam.
ついに受験に失敗し、浪人となります。
浪人時代、
ある女の子に大失恋し、社会の足かせにも強く反発したことで、
多くの画や詩の作品が生まれました。
He didn't succeed in the entrance exam of a high school.
While he was studying for the exam, he lost love.
With his rebellion against for the testing system and other social pressure,
he made many remarkable drawings and poems.
１７歳の夏の炎天下、自宅で
誕生日プレゼントに贈られたエレキギターの練習中感電して、
短い生涯を閉じました。
Right after his seventeenth birthday, when it was hot and humid,
he was erectrocuted by his birthday present, an electric guitar in his room.
後に、ベッドの下からおびただしい数の大学ノート、デッサン、そして水彩画が
見つかります。
After this tragedy, his family found tremendous number of notebooks,
drawing paper, and waterpaintings under his bed.
