The LMMI is housed at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), a post-secondary institution whose forebears were St. Dunstan's University and Prince of Wales College (Montgomery's own alma mater). Created by the provincial government in 1969, UPEI is a non-denominational, liberal arts institution.  UPEI maintains strong links with local and international communities and serves as a resource for private and public sector research and education.
