By what lights do you choose your path?
What few expressions guide your days?
And if you were your own dear child, what wisdom would you share? From these, your spirit house is built. Yours will be like none other. Let me show you mine. Its shape describes an "A." The first wall faces south, transparent to the sun,
from floor to roof admitting total warmth and brightness.
And its name is "Dwell in the Light." And facing north, a wall opaque and strong as steel, yet flexible.
Against all enemies it stands, yet bends to let a storm pass over.
And its name is "Be an Actor, Not a Victim." Between these walls, and halfway up their height, a brace,
a mezzanine to rise to. And its name is "Respond to Challenge." And on the floor, most wondrous part, are turf and mosses,
stream and stones and lovely wild ferns and little tiles.
And the name of the floor is "Nurture Yourself." Now, being a Spirit House, this structure can expand or shrink,
depending on my needs and strengths. And in an instant it can turn
to face the storm, yet when the sky clears, turn again
to gather every ray of light. But in the hardest times, when neither wall can stand,
this house shrinks down to just above the floor, and there I rest.
Then "Nurture Yourself" becomes my only truth,
and I comfort and tend me like a welcomed guest,
and bring me wine and wafers and a feather quilt. Now visualize YOUR dearest truths.
Erect a structure from their names.
See floor and walls and ceiling, beams and windows. Dream them boldly.
Walk inside. This secret place will nurture you and guide your choices. Build your dream now, and your sanctuary.
Make it yours.
